Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

AI Censorship is here to stay

After the Dems steal 2024, I expect online censorship to go berserk. Which is fine with me because I'm increasingly sick of the internet and I need to spend more time reading old books and playing RPGs with nary a digital thing in sight.

Fuck Clown World.

I think they might lose in 2024...but I think the push for censorship will be STRONGER if they do and not lesser than if they had won.  I think Elon allowing some latitude on X is a massive concern for them.   I also think powers that be might realize the frog is getting antsy and cooling the water a bit for 4 years might be a smart move.   Though that is expecting competence to outshine hubris...and that crowd seems to have a gross imbalance on that front.

Unless the GOP learns from it's mistakes and starts playing the same game as the dems whoever they run instead of Brandon will win.

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

Then he'll win. The Neocons want to keep their heads down in secure seats while not rocking the boat.
I'm a middle aged guy with a lot of free time, looking for similar, to form a group for regular gaming. You should be chill, non-woke, and have time on your hands.

This is terrifying. Especially given Blizzard's ties to the CCP. But also just as a natural progression of woke censorship more broadly.

This is like watching the conspiracy theory special Olympics.

Please. Continue. The competition is good but you're currently winning!

Pretty soon the only way to avoid A.I. snitching you out for wrong-think will be not having electronic devices. Depending on which side is in power, there will be a horrible event involving a hate crime or a terror attack, and suddenly we'll need devices to have passive listening for certain words. Just to catch bad guys you understand.

I spoke too soon. A new contender has pulled ahead.

We're all going to miss you when you stop using all electronic devices. You going to shop cash-only at farmers markets for your food too, or do you plan on hunting, fishing and growing all your own food with no electronics involved as well?

I may reach the point where I have all electronics turned off when sitting around having conversations, but no, I won't be throwing away my goods and moving to the woods.

What I will do is be a responsible consumer, and seek Operating Systems, Browsers and products that block or reduce invasive spyware. If new smart TVs had 'always on' smart tech I may stick to using older TVs, for example.

Man at Arms

Of course, AI will be used to ban and penalize free speech and free thought.

I will be interested to see how Elon's GROK AI develops especially combined with his allegedly zero bias X SEARCH coming to replace Google. More freedom almost always wins in a free market, but as America collapses we'll see how much "free market" we have left.

Also...GamerGate 2.0 is apparently rising in fury. Will be very interesting how that develops. I've personally given up on modern vidya and if piracy of old games becomes my only gaming future...oh well then, hoist the black flag!

Again...exactly why we need a National Divorce ASAP.

It's very funny Mistwell can't imagine a life without being a digital slave. What a perfect liberal!! Oh how our nation would be better with them as mulch! Anyone who wants to walk away from the internet certainly can - it just requires accepting a certain level of inconvenience.

I read an article recently about 4 friends who paid cash for a cow, then paid cash to have it slaughtered and chopped up, and all four filled their freezers with top grade beef for a fraction of what a grocery store would charge. All cash. No government involvement. No internet necessary.

Anybody want to guess what those 4 friends will do next year?

The answer to tech censorship, anti-White hiring, oppressive corporations, etc is actually quite simple - the RIGHT needs to start creating their own companies.

Open Source is actually amazeballs. Is it perfect? Nope, far from it, but what does exist is freaking amazeballs when you realize its potential as a monolith breaker.

Of course, the rise of a Parallel Economy is a GREAT first step toward National Divorce.

Secession is the way forward. Or civil war, if the Right can find its nutz.

Of course he can't. He's a dummy.

We do that where I'm at. It's much cheaper, and freezers aren't too expensive. We have a pig coming soon. Mmmm....bacon.

This question is somewhat off topic but I didn't think it worth it's own thread.

What do people here think, in general, of the growth of AI? Not the censorship issue, not even about text or artwork, but just in general it's likely impact on society going forward as it gets better and better and doing things humans do?

There is a new report of AI posing an extinction-level threat to humanity. Now I don't think it's that, but it does raise some legit questions about the impact AI will have on civilization.

That report says in part, ""Current frontier AI development poses urgent and growing risks to national security...The rise of advanced AI and AGI [artificial general intelligence] has the potential to destabilize global security in ways reminiscent of the introduction of nuclear weapons."

"The report focuses on two separate categories of risk. Describing the first category, which it calls "weaponization risk," the report states: "such systems could potentially be used to design and even execute catastrophic biological, chemical, or cyber attacks, or enable unprecedented weaponized applications in swarm robotics." The second category is what the report calls the "loss of control" risk, or the possibility that advanced AI systems may outmaneuver their creators. There is, the report says, "reason to believe that they may be uncontrollable if they are developed using current techniques, and could behave adversarially to human beings by default."

First of all there's no A.I. much less A.G.I.

Second, every technological revolution has changed the world and made some jobs obsolete.

When they manage to create a chatbot that doesn't allucinate we might start talking about other things.

But for that you'd need a development team really commited to not injecting ANY ideological bullshit into their code.

As it stands the REAL risk is the incorporation of an allucinating and ideologically possesed bot into your browser.
