This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.
NOTICE: Some online security services are reporting that information for a limited number of users from this site is for sale on the "dark web." As of right now, there is no direct evidence of this, but change your password just to be safe.
The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

The most telling part of it all is that these people rarely create their own (garbage). Notice how they must infect, take over, and ruin what already exists.

If I ever do get my own RPG effort off the ground- if you see the moon split in two you know it happened- there will be SJW complaining because it is not politically correct, especially where feminism is concerned. At no point will anyone whining about it ever bother to cook up their own "progressive" RPG, nor work on illustrations- although judging by some shown here that may be a mercy (a PROM?! Sword Lesbians?).

Of course Tolkein had to end up in the crosshairs. It does strike me as curious that the "Gor" books are overlooked by these people. Or Mary Gentle's "Grunts." Or...

I’m under the impression that petty self-centered finger-pointing is much of the point.
Pointing out “problematic” content in the Gor books would piss off nobody and wouldn’t ruin anyone’s day. Even Gor fans would likely go “yeah, so?”

The people behind all of this are going to regret it when they find themselves in a real-life "Idiocracy."
I'm 55. My profile won't record this. It's only right younger members know how old I am.

Modern society is already a horrifying mishmash of Animal Farm, Demolition Man, and a pseudo-intellectual recolor of Idiocracy.

J.R.R. Tolkien is rolling in his grave and the dark-haired maiden lady's rolling around on top of him.

I think you'd be surprised how many people would vote for President Camacho, especially if it came with a coupon for an extra hot latte.

Considering who we have now, it could only be an improvement.

Strange times indeed, that we find ourselves in agreement.

I watched one of these partially (that's all I could stomach). I understand that academic study of a subject can lead to some highly interesting aspects for discussion while adding some interesting theories about said work. Fair enough.

But who the actual fuck were these people btw? And to the best of my knowledge, much of academic studies on pop-culture are theoretical. In other words, here's another interpretation of the work, but not necessarily facts per se.

The lecture I saw was so disingenuous with the facts, that we know about Tolkien's work. I mean, she was bleating on about trans/gay issues in the work (trans issues were huge back then - LOL). Basically stating that they were definitely present, etc. Now if that drongo had said, "well this is my personal interpretation and opinion." I wouldn't have a problem with that. I mean, I might have laughed at the absurdity of it. But, sure, that's her opinion.

What fucked me off though, was that she stated everything as a FACT in the text. Bollox, says I. It does'nt work that way, especially as Tolkien left swathes of letters and documents clarifying his material.

Faux facts central.

Needless to say, I did not watch any more. I noticed that all the comments and dislikes were disabled. LOL.
