This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.
The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

A Letter To Little Mary Sunshine
« on: October 03, 2006, 03:02:26 PM »
Oh no, sweet little mary sunshine, I've clearly gotten to you. I've made you loathe me, and there's really nothing you can do about it.

I have bitchslapped you with the ugly truth and now you are bending over and calling me daddy.

You remind me of the chaps over at RPG.net who dedicated about 8 pages to a thread about how no one cares about what I have to say.

Of course, these same shitheads are the ones who write in a post about "games everyone else on RPGnet loves but you're not too keen on" and bash D&D, as if D&D had any love on RPG.net.

RPG.net is the home base of your basic "default" Swine, the ones who aren't quite extreme enough to hang out on the Forge, who aren't totally alienated from reality, but are sufficiently deranged to really think that anyone in the gaming world gives a shit about Nobilis, or that Exalted is far more than a powergaming wet dream for under-developed emotional retards. This is where they go to praise their Swine games and bash on games that gamers actually play.

These are the people who bash D&D or Palladium's games for being "mindless powergaming"; but try to argue that Exalted is actually a "sophisticated game about coming to terms with the responsibility of massive power", rather than a powergame that makes RIFTS look sane by comparison.

You would do well among them, Little Mary Sunshine, though I suspect you are probably already on RPG.net.

So, now you be a good little piggy and run along to write a good long post somewhere about how irrelevant I am, and how important GNS theory is, or how much D20 sucks, or why Nobilis is "so deep" for using fake latin, or how White Wolf games are so sophisticated because they mirror your own dark suffering at not being given an advance in your allowance to buy the latest Marilyn Manson album.

So you keep right on, little mary sunshine, add my own "irrelevance" to the long list of disconnects from reality that plague your swine existence.   And keep reading often, as I know you have and will.

A little more backstory may be necessary here.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm wondering if Pundit put a bit of Mary Jane in his pipe instead of tobacco today. ;)

You're a strange man Pundit. It's not a bad thing really, but you are a strange man.

Eh. I don't care for the Pundit personally.

He and I usually disagree, but I have no need to mention it (besides this moment), for I've got enough ego, of my own you see.
I don't like Dee&Dee, not in its current form, far to fiddly,
far to complex for the gaming needs.

That doesn't say its badwrongfun, it just isn't
a game I percieve, as fitting what I want to do, or spend time
that is; with Dee&Dee.

Exalted also hits the skids, not wrong, not bad, but not fun for
my group or me.

Simply put we've other games
to spend our time upon that fit us to a T.

From Tunnels and Trolls to Talislanta, to Shadowrun and Mekton II and Mekton Z.
We've got a lot of years of gaming and a thousand quality choices
that are pure distilled game, badassery.

So if you wonder what is wrong--with the Pundit, he's just
being who he always has leave to be; poncy, elf like arrogance
pipesmoker, and loudmouth with rhetoric that lacks much
researched depth; or quality.

Just a bunch of opinions which everyone has,
spewed out like mad libs--just fill in the blanks
each new day and stir up more mad glee.

But such comic characters exist, wherever the net
may be.

Yet, like a broken clock that's right twice  a day
even occasionally with the Pundit eye to eye do I see.

Hey, I remember this one. It rings a little false, of course, if you have noticed those current D&D threads over at RPGnet which have nothing to do with bashing the game.

(Besides, I like the notion of the True Tongue in Nob: it's the perfect excuse for coming up with suitably impressive names and titles without having to worry about classical grammar. The proper Latin terms are included in the back of the book if someone wants to use those instead, after all.)
Previously known by the name of "GrimGent".

Oh, the Gleichman rant? Heh, cute.

"But then I got to clicking all the threads that I wanted to read. I started counting them out... 18.  Eight-fucking-teen."

I didn't think it counted if you created 15 of those threads yourself... :)

Of the thirty threads in the front page of the Roleplaying forum (not counting the two stickied threads), there are 6 threads that were started by me.

I note, however, there were none started by you.  So instead of bitching, you might consider trying to make this place work, talking about things you enjoy, by starting up a thread or two of your own.

Well, that's cool.

It'd still be cooler, though, if you decided to start up some threads of your own! Give it a try, help make theRPGsite yours!
