I think that on the one hand, Objectivism is kind of the opposite of Gnomish philosophy, it being clear that their society puts little value on individuality, and collectivism is the norm. However, it is a society where clearly some kind of might makes right, where what seems to maintain control in things is not so much a restrictive central bureaucracy or some kind of notion of civil or religious rights, but the simple strength of the more powerful Gnome who's your boss; and if you're powerful enough you can BECOME the boss.
On the other hand, I think that the Gnomes must realize that this sort of notion (of rugged individualism without any underlying moral foundation) must be toxic to humanity, and I have to wonder:
1. Did the Gnomes actually lead to the rise of neo-conservative objectivism, is it part of their plot?
2. What would a group of Objectivists, out there trying to get Atlas to shrug, convinced that they could somehow find a way to "go Galt" if only they could still get poor people to mow their lawns and clean their toilets, think of the Gnomes? Would some of them, learning of Gnome society, come to be foolhardly followers of them?
Or would they be seen like the worst bolshevik nightmare of Ayn Rand's fever-dreams?
