This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Okay, so it's a Disney movie but if you can look past that it seems like a really interesting setting which is very Amber-like in many ways. Particularly for someone who wants to introduce ADRP to kids.

The basic premise is that the characters are high school aged sons and daughters of the classic Disney heroes and villians. The movie focuses on the daughter of Mallificent (Sleeping Beauty), the daughter of the Evil Queen (Snow White), son of Cruella DeVil (101 Dalmations), and son of Jaffar (Alladin).

Good guys include Belle and the Prince (Beauty and the Beast) who are queen and king of the land. Characters seen include their son, the sone of one of the seven dwarfs, daughter of Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), and so on.

There are a couple of items of note: the spellbook of Mallficent and a hand morror of the Evil Queen.

As with Amber, part of what is interesting to me is the notion that the PCs are the sons and daughters of Elders.

A couple of questions:
1. Has anyone else seen this movie?
2. Has anyone thought about statting out characters in ADRP terms?
3. Has anyone tried to do some sort of "ADRP Disney" with kids?

I haven't seen this, but it does seem very Amber-ish.

Are the children of the evil characters necessarily evil, and the children of the good characters necessarily good? If that is the case, I find it highly disappointing. What a great opportunity it would have been to mix things up a bit.

Still, this fits in well with Fables-As-Amber notion - it would be very easy to run a children of fairy tales Amber variant.

But as with all Amber variants, the real problem is what do you do with powers?

First, remember that it's Disney so most folks end up good. :)

There is some mixing of alignments, particularly among the evil kids who feel the pressure from their parents to be evil but are making friends who are good. Most of the good guys (so far) have been pretty one-dimensional and cardboard cutout good guys.

I haven't seen it, but I heard it promoted somewhere, don't recall when.

In any case, several people have told me that they think Lords of Olympus is perfect for playing Percy Jackson, so there's some precedence here.
