This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Greetings!

From mid-July to mid-August I'm going to be running a bunch more role-playing sessions in the San Francisco Bay Area.

One thing I've already scheduled is a three-part campaign of Quantum Time, to take place on consecutive Saturdays, July 28th, August 4th and August 11th, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the GameScape Game Store in San Rafael.

Please get in touch if you are interested, in the area, and aren't already on my mailing list.

Thanks!

Erick

I happened across a fun little posting from a blog, that might be of interest for anyone who hasn't had a chance to role-play with me, described an experience from the 1993 World Science Fiction Convention:

QuoteI went to the 51st World Science Fiction convention in San Francisco in '93 (I was 22); I had gotten bumped on a flight earlier that year and had a freebie to anywhere on the continent pretty much. Wasn't going to get anyone to come with me, so I went alone. It was fun; I met an acquaintance on the plane actually.

And I got to play in an odd little game run by Erick Wujcik; we played characters with skills we had in RL (or could convincingly fake having); investigating a previous investigation team that all dies during an experiment. Turned out that the number pi, when 'unfolded' in the right size computer in the right way, would slowly become an AI. My favourite parts where:

When we discover the system is accessing radio and other devices remotely; me: "Next time we run this fucking experiment inside a goddamn Faraday cage!"

When we're set to introduce the fairly friendly AI program to the President of the United States, and nothing happens. Turns out, it didn't want to talk cause it was shy.

Also, I dropped by a game I decided not to play, that he was running by himself, for something in excess of 20 players. Trick was that each player had 3 characters: one on the army team investigating The Anomaly, one on the science team interpreting the data and giving direction to the army team, and one in the group of politicians trying to figure out how to handle it. I swung by some 6 hours after it started and they were ALL still playing. One guy, GMing 20 people, all totally absorbed. Just mind-blowing GM skill, there. I was sad I hadn't played it.

Very few responses so far, and the window of opportunity is getting smaller.

Anyone interested in playing with me, sometime in the next three weeks, somewhere here in the San Francisco Bay Area, should get in touch pretty soon.

Just send me a message here at the therpgsite.com forum, and be sure to send me your e-mail.

As of a couple of days ago I had exactly three (3) people sign up the Quantum Time mini-campaign. I'm hoping we'll get at least a couple more...

I'll be running in California again soon:

Worldwide D&D Day: Saturday, November 3rd, 12-7 pm
Where: Gamescape North, San Rafael

Game #3 - Regeneration Quest
D&D 1st Edition (actually AD&D)
6-8 Players
GM - Erick Wujcik
"Thieves, Thieves, Thieves! Pre-generated high level thief characters (7th level or higher), each with good aspects and bad. Good Aspects: Each character will have a selection of special abilities and a nice bag of tricks, and each will have unique advantages. Bad Aspects: The recent crack-down on crime in Kalamet City has meant that all the characters have been maimed as punishment for theft (Hint: standard sentence for theft is cutting off the right hand). The action will start at the entrance to the ancient crypts, deep under the abandoned Temple of Janrak, once God of Thieves, ruled by the undead, filled with lost treasures, and rumored to contain the 'Janrak's Pool of Regeneration.' Old-Style 1st- Edition Dungeons & Dragons the way we remember it!"

Since I'll be around for a few hours, Amber Diceless and Palladium fans can feel free to stop by. If you want books signed it's probably best to show up early (before the game starts), or later (after it ends).

San Rafael is a pretty quick drive from East Bay (it's just the other side of the Richmond Bridge, and only 15-20 minutes from Berkeley), or San Francisco proper... though a rather long drive if you're coming from South Bay.
