This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Its hard sometimes when friends you want to hang out with don't fit the game.  I had a game with 6 people that played in a long series of games.  When I started an amber game with them one of the players really couldn't wrap his head around the concept, despite being a fan of the series.  He had a hack/slash game style and couldn't shift to heavy Rp.  He eventually stopped coming over if we were running am Amber session.

In my first Amber game, a large one, there was a player who didn't understand the game.  He had read Amber and thought the point of the game was beating the other players.  So day one he attacked another character for no reason other then that he didn't like the player and wanted to kill his character(with the assumption that it meant that player would have to not be around as much). After many explanations and discussions he decided Amber was stupid and dropped out.  He then snarked at the rest of us as the game went on.  The game lasted several years, no part of it including him.   He played in other games, just not Amber.

Shit happens.  Its not a game for everyone.    Enjoyed the read along the way.

The Players for Rhi, Caroline and Marquis all want to do something Amber related on line. trying to decide what.

When I let Trace's player know we were stopping game he just said OK, No questions why. Trying to decide if he just doesn't care or was trying to sabotage the game.
Well, why not just continue the campaign with the other three players? No reason why they have to stop just becasue he's not interested.

Because Rhi's Player moved away, Marcuis Player had a schedule change and can't make it but 1 out of every 5-6 sessions, leaving Trace and Caroline. The ones having the issue. Kal is also out of the picture as he is in school till may and can't Play either.

RHi, Caroline, MArcuis would and could play on line, Started a Thread about that!

Yeah, that is sad. As the others said, some players just don't mesh well or don't understand the campaign.

Sometimes the problems can be papered over. 20 years ago when I moved to Florida I joined a group and played a female wizard character (I'm a guy.) The GM and other players thought this strange, they weren't used to people playing opposite-gender characters, but it was a common thing with my last game group. They felt better when I played the character like "Mrs. Doubtfire." (Still though, about 1/3 of the spells I had chosen for the character were useless in the campaign, just not the GM's style of play. In the previous game they would have been very useful. I think it's often true: we do try to refight the previous war.)

I'm not sure how I would have handled Trace's player. As I mentioned before I am not totally against what he tried to do. He sounds like a younger me, in ways. But...

Yeah but there is also being such an ass or douche that the one other player can't put up with you and it isn't fun. He broke the cardinal rule "Don't be a dick" And since he so seldom games RPG's I don't know if it was intentional or not which makes it worse that I even think that. And it isn't like I didn't try to talk to him about it.
