Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). The Jewel of Judgement

moritheil, that was very interesting, I had the same sentiments when I read about ghost-Rinaldo walking the Corwin pattern. Nonetheless this thread is about (the pattern within) the Jewel of Judgement, not about Dworkin's or Corwin's pattern.

In this situation, I think the first case is the fact that Jurt is a ghost, making the rules different. He is, additionally, maintained by the blood of Merlin, who clearly can walk the pattern. So there's a lot of exceptions to the rule going on there. I think that someone (a regular person) without amberite blood probably can't walk the pattern, and its not a question of the pattern willing it or not.

Yup, I also always considered that it was merlin's blood that allowed him to walk the Pattern, which opens up interesting possibilities (Can a vampire walk the pattern? If so, merlin should be wary of his childhood "friend").

Quote from: RPGPundit;139703Unless someone wants to actually draw a new fucking pattern like Corwin did, what other practical CANONICAL use (besides the aforementioned weather control) does it have that you actively use?

RPGPundit

There were a number of other things besides weather control which came up in the books. . . .

Brand used it to screw with Benedict's nervous system. And Corwin did the same trick on a whole room full of strange little people.

From the Courts of Chaos:

QuoteI saw that they were getting ready to rush me and I thought suddenly of Brand and Benedict in Tir-na Nog'th, Brand not even fully attuned to the Jewel. I drew strength form that fiery stone once again, growing alert and ready to lay about me if it came to that. But first I would have a go at their nervous systems.

I was not sure how Brand had managed it, so I simply reached out though the Jewel as I did when influencing the weather.

Corwin also used it to burn Brand, right at the end of the book.

QuoteHot. Hot, I thought. It is burning you, Brand. It is causing every molecule of your body to vibrate faster and faster. You are about to become a human torch---

It seemed like there was a great deal Corwin could do with it---if he put his mind to it.

Maybe that's the things with the JoJ.

Maybe it can do anything, if you put your mind to it. It's just easier or harder to do some things than others.

Sounds good to me. :)

RPGPundit

That's interesting, but at the same time can be highly game-breaking. Though I guess if one went to all the trouble of getting the Jewel, and then attuning to it...

How about keeping it simple.

Using the Item creation rules give the JoJ

Manipulate/Mould Shadow Reality(32)
Psychic amplifier (16)
Danger sense (1)
Endurance Drain (-4)

So with that you can use the Jewel to affect any shadow, creating storms, slowing time etc etc . You can even use it to Maniputlate shadow the extend of creating it via pattern creation.
The Jewel acts as an amplifier to your own Psyche (this enables use of the primary power as shadow manipualtion should be based on sme sort of Psyche  power source).
Danger sense because the Jewel will activate its power if the bearer is attacked (caine atacking Corwin)
Endurance drain is downside. Corwin didn;t notice so much as he was an Endurance monkey but it leads to a small wound killing Eric ???

That should make it pretty tough one you learn how to use it. You coudl even run that learning process as you spending points on JoJ and once you reach the 45 total you have access to all the powers.
