This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Seperate section for LoO?

Quote from: Panjumanju;634456I may have shared your reservations, except I think the Amber Diceless and Amber in general content has gone up quite a bit since LoO came out. We have a few new frequent contributors just to his sub-forum in the past month, and that's all pretty great.

//Panjumanju

Its absolutely true that since LoO came out we've seen a jump in the traffic in this subforum, and not just about LoO but about Amber as well. That is in keeping with my bigger goals, so I'm very pleased about this!

I hope that when LoGaS comes out, we'll see the same, even if they don't want this to be an official forum.

Quote from: Sydius Mendoza;634852I must admit that I have been thinking about this topic for a while before Finarvyn started the thread. Like him, I too have a deep abiding (perhaps creepy) love for all things Amber. Lately I had been thinking that with all the attention LoO has been getting, that it maybe deserves it's own forum.

However, I understand the point Pundit is making on why he has not split the forum. More traffic for LoO is potential traffic for ADRPG as well. Never a bad thing.

Might it be easier to just standardize the title format of threads to include a subject header? I see that has already been done to some extent by putting [LoO] before thread titles for Lords of Olympus. If you did the same thing for the Amber threads (i.e. <[ADRPG] - "Thread title">), it would make sorting bit easier. Perhaps a bit time consuming from a standpoint of amending old thread titles, but it would achieve some separation while still keeping the diceless forum intact.

I'd be strongly in favor of putting headers like this for both Amber-specific and LoO-specific threads (of course there can also be threads that aren't specific to one or other, or threads that aren't about either, like threads about Erick Wujcik or any of his other games or endeavours).

In any case, I think the organic way to do this would be for each person to do it voluntarily; and I'll certainly keep trying to do this with my own threads from here on in.

I'm certainly willing to do my part in adding a header to any threads I start. Would a sticky thread asking posters to do that be helpful, do you think?

We could do that.  Again, though, I wouldn't want to actually get all hardliner about it. No one would be punished for forgetting or something...

The sticky thread was a suggestion aimed at cultivating a desired behavior without alienating current/future users by instituting hard line rules and draconian punishments.

I wasn't suggesting making it a set in stone rule or anything, so much as a polite request to add headers in an effort to make it easier for users to sort and find the content they are looking for. Less of a demand, more of an ask.

I have now made a sticky thread on the subject of headers.

Quote from: RPGPundit;634187Thanks very much! I was kind of wondering whether anyone in France was noticing it...
Well, it seems there's about me :(

But I sure hope I'm just the tip of the iceberg :) The Amber DRPG was quite popular here, so there must be people who still think about it and have noticed LoO.

Well, the big reason why this wouldn't happen is that there is a considerable value to being the OFFICIAL Amber DRPG and Erick Wujcik forum. That's not just something that was pulled out of my ass; it was granted by Erick when he was alive (and he was the moderator of this forum).  So a name change that underplayed that would not be something I'd want to do.

For what it's worth, I agree. In its small way, this name keep Amber and Wujcik alive.

I can certainly see that.  I'm an Amber fan from way back and certainly a fan of this system. I never got to met Mr. Wujcik, unfortunately.    I would have liked to though.   The game's connection to Zelazny keeps his ideas alive in my mind as well.

Speaking of which i think I'll go unearth my copy of Creatures of Light and Darkness now that I'm done with my rereading of the Amber books.
