Alright so the main connection of Fight to Survive to Amber is that the designer of Fight to Survive hangs out here occasionally and used to run a lot of Amber.
I think it shows in the game design. I suspect it also shows that he played a fair bit of Pendragon, but I haven't played so can't comment knowledgeably on that.
Fight to Survive: Martial Arts Meets Heart, commonly abbreviated F2S, currently gets my vote for most innovative game design of 2023. A statement I do not make lightly. It was nominated for a "best setting" Indie Groundbreaker award.
It's a Diceless, Multi-generational, Rules medium game. You can resolve much of the action "by-the-numbers" -- much like in Amber. Is your rating in the technique you chose to use high enough? Ok, then you succeed. You have ratings in 5 martial arts techniques that also correspond to other game uses. For example your rating in Punch is also your rating in Heart.
In a fight you select a few moves, and then reveal them gradually against your opponent. Certain moves trump others, but if both select say "grapple" then you compare ratings.
It just sings perfectly for what it is emulating (80's and 90s martial arts and action movies i.e. Rocky, Karate Kid, etc)
It's multi-generational, and grounded. You'll get hurt, acquire injuries and retire. Hopefully you'll have a successor to carry on for you.
A session usually play's through a year or two, and in each year you get a training montage to improve your techniques and perhaps recover from some injuries.
