I finnished Gossamer and Shadow.  I was happy with it.  I might have a few quibbles but I will cover those when I finnish Olympus and can compare and contrast.

Any way in Gossamer there seems to be a lot of gear.  All the NPCs have a tonne of gear.  And everyone of them has a magic weapon and some kind of invincible armor.  How does that compare to ranked attributes?  Can Amber ranked with invincible armor and a magic sword beat first in warfare with a quater staff?

Another example.  One of the player charcters builds a combat deamon as a servitor 'combat reflexes' deadly damage horns and claws, super vitality.  26 points worth of combat Deamon.  How is that guy going to do against first or second ranked strength.  Or 5th?

An easy way to sovle it would be to just compare points, so if first rank strenght is 17 points the deamon at 16 points would beat him.  But thats not how the auction works and I don't think thats how I would play it.

Final example.  Someone on here mentioned a magic sword with 'mold shadow stuff' that was always making the floor uneven to trip his opponets and tricks like that.  It doesn't seem like a 3 or 4 point magic sword should be able to trip up a Pattern initiate.

So how do you rank gear.  Pundit, I haven't gotten to gear in your book yet.

Two other questions. I might as well put them here while I am asking how to rank gear vs attributes.

First stuff?  How big a deal is that in play?  From the chapters on stuff in Gossamer and I think Amber Diceless rpg stuff seems like the most important thing.  Like two points of bad stuff negates any advantage you might have from being first in warfare.

Second Question Sorcery.  How do you run a Sorcery Duel?  The Rule books say highest psyche wins.  The Sorce material (merlin saga) seems to say who ever runs out of spells first probably loses.  Then there are higher powers Pattern Umbra etc, and other atributes.  Whats a fireball do to First in strengh? Or Psyche with no spell casting?

I also noticed the NPCs in Gossamer all have items which hang named and numbered spells.  Sometimes several Items. But In Amber Diceless, it specifically says Amberites usually don't bother with that.  Its tedious and the prefer drinking back biteing and other amusements.  I guess thats just a style change.

I realise these are judgement calls, and i will have to figure them out myself.  But advice and examples from play are appreciated.
