This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I am very confused, it's impossible for anyone to see me as a victim in this case, and I'd never attempt such a foolish implication.  If I claimed I was a victim, I hope I'd be called out in half a second or less, because that claim would be wholly invalid.

I also don't understand the concept of "an innocent reviewer".  There's no criminal activity taking place, I'm merely providing opinions and analysis of what I see in the products.

I'm pointing out what I believe to be rather massive flaws in your products.  If expecting an RPG to actually be a role playing game makes me a chump, then 99.9% of the people in the hobby are chumps.

As a human being, I WANT you to stand by your words.  I want you to provide a defense against my criticisms.  Debunk my claims, please!  I pointed out confusion about page 31.  Explain why strength for a knight is listed as "7+2" instead of "9"?  Explain why you never point out that the +2 comes from Unbending Will.

Or, better yet, realize that every single flaw I point out is something that your text has failed to explain, which means you now know exactly what to improve.

Explain why there are no rules for climbing walls or mountains
Explain why the map has no scale.
Explain why there are no rules for taming horses or riding them.

Getting rid of me would be very very easy.  Fix the flaws.  And believe me, I'm AMAZINGLY tolerant of flaws, my favorite game system is Palladium of all things.

I am standing by my words...

I stand behind every single word of the reviews I've written.  If anyone believes I'm a troll, I wholeheartedly invite them to double-check me on Reddit, I have the same username there, so I should be easy to find.

In fact, I look forward to any feedback on those reviews, and I eagerly await feedback from other readers to get their perspective on the honesty of my work.  If anyone can show that I'm lying in any of my claims, I'll cop to the crime and admit I'm wrong.  Granted, I'll try to defend my words in good faith, so a single random or badly reasoned accusation won't convince me that my conduct was wrong.

Actually, is it against the forum rules to self-promote my reviews on Reddit?  I think it is, but I can't remember and don't want to go over things with a fine-toothed comb.  How about this, send me a PM, and I'll send you the reddit links, elsewise, they remain on https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/

I will cop that my first review of the 2nd Edition product was designed to be opinionated and stand as a humorously sarcastic spectacle, but my opening paragraphs were intended to set the stage for a bombastic and over-the-top written piece.

I can also assure all readers I am very much aware of the difference between a second edition and a first or third edition.  I even pointed out that they are difference on my review here on this website.  Thus, the implication of me being unable to differentiate the two is mis-aimed.

Why instead of wasting people's time with your idiotic nonsense and pretending you're the poor victim that was only innocently "reviewing" a product. You post your asshole behavior like this in a link. Then Leave! Sick and tired of chumps like you dissolving the hobby to shit. I stand by my words, don't want you as a customer. I get paid, you don't, why even waste your time? Just leave! Like dude, seriously.

It sounds like you don't think my criticisms have any validity, as though your product was clearly beyond criticism.

If that is your opinion of your work, I fear your objectivity is compromised.

You can ask, suggest, but you don't get to demand anything. If you didn't behave like a punk and came straight to me to ask a few questions you would've got your answers. Instead you chose to be douchebag acting like a clown and now you come here acting like an idiot. Guess what, LEAVE! I don't need you or anyone who wants to act like a idiot in this hobby. I honestly don't give a fuck if sits well with you or not, I've got my fanbase. If anyone has problem with me speaking my mind they are welcome to go play something else. My final word on the matter.

Greetings!

Felix! I am not a customer, nd have not purchased your game. I'm more into D&D and OSR stuff, to be sure. I also like paper and pencil and dice, so the whole video screen thing doesn't do anything for me. From being a member on the boards here, I imagine you are somewhat familiar with my own gaming, so this no doubt isn't a surprise.

So, having said that, I do not have any particular opinion about your game, and so on, it's development, mechanics, style, and so forth. Nothing against you personally at all. I think that your entrepreneurial efforts are admirable, and commendable. I wish you to have the greatest success in your work. ;D

As a board member, and as an observer, I am curious though. Why is it that you seem to get into all of these kinds of hostile, abrasive interactions with customers of your game, and those that review your game products? In several posts and threads, either here or on Drivethru, you seem to very often get involved in these kinds of engagements. Why do customers or whoever, have such negative views of your game products? You mentioned that the reviewer above is a "Nothing but a Troll"--but why would someone go out of their way and write up a review to be a Troll? What is the motive for hating an obscure game designer?

On Drivethru, for example, I have read many products produced by many different authors and designers, most of whom, like yourself, are either entirely unknown or relatively obscure--and they don't get the same flame-throwing treatment you do. They typically get brief, pleasant commentaries like, "Cool book, man. Very useful in my campaign. Thanks for writing this book!" or "The tables in this book are awesome! Very happy I picked this up!" and so on. No flame-throwing, no drama, no hatred.

Just something I've noticed with people interacting with you. I hope things improve for you and your games.

Thanks for taking the time to write your thoughts with such valued context. First, accept my apologies for taking so long to reply. I haven't been very active in the communities within the last 10 days or so. Long story short, a lot of these guys are the same guys from back in 2016, when experimental K&L first debuted on Reddit. The game picked up a bunch of dedicated trolls due to its gender related limitations. Which by the way, wasn't even that big of a deal at all. Then cancel culture happened, you know.

People started talking about the game but not in the way I had expected. And like you said it yourself, for an obscure game dev like myself, any publicity is good publicity. I took full advantage of the chaos by manipulating dedicated trolls in order to promote my work. Then, with New Horizon and the subsequent Dark Ink core book, I've been slowly shifting the "negative" publicity towards REAL good publicity.

At first glance, a lot of these negative interactions come from people who are too far too gone into the cancellation rabbit hole. Then there's legit dedicated trolls, other game designers with insecurity issues, and ultimately those like this dude. But hey, game got noticed. Selling faster than it ever did. Mission accomplished, I guess? I get the point is to win over new customers, but with such ill intent by these individuals I'd be wasting my time and energy on someone not worth it in my opinion.

From my perspective, if someone allows themselves to be persuaded into thinking negatively of me or my games over something they read on toxic websites like geek, reddit, rpg.not, without fact checking like you're doing, then Knights & Legends isn't for them to begin with. Most importantly, seeing all the ad hominem these guys been putting out there is rather entertaining. Odds are they don't really own, as in purchased, a copy of the game. There's a lot of misinformation that was previously posted out there, but from my perspective it turned out rather favorably, and quite frankly, it's old news. The average person doesn't keep buying the same game for 4 years if they don't like it. If people expressed themselves a bit better, maybe many more positive new changes could have happened. If these individuals would focus the same amount of time they spend trolling into something positive, the sky is the limit.

Greetings!

You are welcome, Felix! Thanks as well for responding to my questions. Best of luck to you and your work!

It looks like a pack with all of your products is on DTRPG right now for a very affordable price (about $15).

I thought you weren't using DTRPG anymore? Did you change your mind?

No, no. I released it on both Itch and dtrpg mostly because I had promised $5 off to all Dark Ink buyers. So in order to make things simpler I just released on dtrpg and sent a discount code to all Dark Ink purchasers. Right around January I'll have completely pulled out of dtrpg.
