This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Pen and Paper Roleplaying Games (RPGs) Discussion / Re: VENGER CON

No guest panelists?

Nothing set in stone.  To be determined...

But if I can afford you, Pundit, you're on the short list.

Record the panels and upload them somewhere at a latter date for those of us that can't attend.

Trying to get this thread back on topic, yes, I'd like to do that.  Or at least some kind of transcript of what was said.

I'm not altogether sure why (beyond mere self-confidence), but I firmly believe that Venger Con will revolutionize the art of Game Mastering, perhaps roleplaying itself.  A kind of forced evolution.

Congrats, Venger (I guess), you have your own KiwiFarms thread. I won't link it here, as it's filled with typical KF intrusiveness. But, lol anyway.

What is a Kiwi Farms thread?
What is KF Intrusiveness?
A forum where they dox controversial people on the internet, and then exhaustively dredge up every negative personal detail they can find.

I looked up Venger's thread. It's incredibly mild and tame compared to their usual hit pieces. Basically just says he's a guy with an edgelord persona who had some issues with commitment, but then says he seems to be raising his kids fairly well. It's nothingsauce.

If they really wanted the whole story, they could have just asked.  Yeah, I don't understand that whole vibe.  It's weird.  If I didn't like something, I would not waste hours of my time exhaustively investigating it... but then not even get that right.  Lol

Yeah, I saw.  Thank you?  It's amazing how they got some stuff right on the nose and other stuff they're way off base.  Plus, consumerism and conservatism bad (like wokes), but also calling people fags and condemning woke Star Wars (like the usual living in their parents' basement folks).

Anyway, I'm going to keep doing my thing...

You're going to love wearing a mask forever...
https://www.foxnews.com/us/oregon-health-authority-moves-to-implement-permanent-indoor-mask-mandate

"Permanent means indefinite. It doesn’t necessarily mean permanent," Cieslak said.

Permanent means permanent. Indefinite means indefinite. Why should I trust any medical information coming out of the mouth of someone that is that stupid or disingenuous.

Something I have noticed about a whole bunch of people who fancy themselves in business or self employed...it seems to take some of them a loooong time to realize there is a massive difference in gross and profit, and that at the end of the day, profit is the only number that really matters.

That's exactly why so many small businesses crash quickly unless they got money to burn. And then it just delays the crash.

Some creative or technically proficient people think business is easy because that's all they choose to see.
Having the right niche helps. My day job is also being self-employed. I do custom laser engraving and the key for me has been keeping low overhead and NOT expanding into stupid side lines; have clients pay YOU to cut their side-line projects instead.

My game is a labor of love. If I can just not lose money on printing and shipping and keeping the website running I long ago gave up on ever recouping my writing or art time beyond fractional pennies per copy.

You should check out Sundered Skies for Savage Worlds. It has airships and pirates and weird steampunkish tech.

I've actually owned Sundered Skies for many years.

RPG's are a hobby activity, not a past time. Hobbies take actual work to do the fun stuff, unlike past times; like following sports.

You never was a GM, was you?

This is the first edition of DnD to be helmed by total mediocrities. Every other edition has something the designs can point to as their masterpiece. What does Perkins, Crawford et al have?

Nothing.

Aside from the most popular edition of the world's most popular RPG lmao

They were not the creators of that RPG, though. They "have" the Good Name of that edition on their side, which is an advantage to be sure. But 4e's designers had the Good Name of 3e to bank on, and then completely tanked when they put out a Shit Edition anyways.

And just like with 4e, look for D&D CRT Edition to SHIT ALL OVER 5e, in this case talking about how bigoted and transphobic and White-male-oriented and Colonialist it was and how anyone who ever like it (or maybe even played it) was a Literal Nazi.

Its funny that you are on this campaign against an edition you actually helped build (you're a consultant on 5e right?) But I guess you eat your own and you turncoat when needed. As you are a part of the outrage brigade. Like OMG they use 'they/them' pronouns... its the END OF THE WORLD... omg.

That's one hell of a take. I'm defending the current edition, against people who want to change it not to make it more gameable, but to suit an ideological agenda. Who is 'eating their own' here?

With Mongoose, would it still be green with the "Traveller 2022 Update" shenanigans? Can't tell if it's a wokified version or just a cash grab. Either way, $30 for a PDF is fairly steep.

I didn't notice any Woke when I looked at the preview on Drive-thru.

That's what I noticed too, so I didn't know how true those musings were.

And Happy, less "see woke people everywhere" and more " the woke at TBP are praising it HEAVILY" so I wanted to see what was up

Ehhh, HD can't see woke anywhere, so he's the same as what he's accusing others of being...
That's not true at all. However, I don't have hypersensitive reactions to it like some around here that go into anaphylaxis upon reading a singular they.
