This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I didn't back it, just preordered. I'm impressed with the small but solid changes I've seen. As far as "Destiny" goes, I really like what I've read. Feel free to ask whatever you may be curious about.

Tell me more about Destiny - what does it cover?  How are the crafting, scavenging, and community rules?

I didn't pick this up as I wasn't a fan of the pricing on the Kickstarter.  It sounds like I may need to pick it up, though - what you're describing sounds like I'd love it!

I'd agree with that, and argue that it is fantastic development. Those two alone are real characters with significant depth of personality, I'm not surprised they have caught on.

I liked Rogue One, but I don't think either Jyn or especially Rey were terribly well fleshed out.  On the other hand, I've loved seeing Ahsoka Tano, Hera Syndulla, and Sabine Wren getting love from the fans and cosplayers.

Talk shit, get hit. And now manz is well shook. Never forget you can be touched and you'll be more considered in how you express opinions.

Yeah, he should never have been wearing a skirt that short.

Hey, folks!  Monte Cook Games is Kickstarting Your Best Game Ever, a system neutral resource for GMs and players to get the most out of their games.  They're also doing an updated Cypher System Rulebook.  The project funded this morning, and the stretch goal (a 160 pg book on sci fi settings and elements) is less than 25k from funding.

Check it out here:

It's a CYA decision in case ink washing a major character blows up in their faces.

It CAN be done well, it's just rare to find someone who does it without screwing it up.  Another example of changing the race of established characters that worked well is Iris and Wally West in CW's Flash show. There isn't the heavy handed moralizing you see in, say, Supergirl.  They're just ... the characters, and the cast works well as a whole.

The sad part is Cessna was a good mod and voice of reason back in the day.

I loved Bill Coffin's stuff, especially his fantasy sourcebooks, his stuff for Heroes Unlimited, and Systems Failure.  It's been ages since I played or ran Palladium, but I very much would love to play in something set in one his setting books!

Systems Failure is one I'd dearly love to play in.  I really liked the classes, and it was a good post apoc setting.

Most of Palladium's stuff, as noted earlier, suffers from a clunky system.  No matter what year it is, pick up the newest offering from Palladium and it's still 1983.  It does have its charm, though, there are just other systems I prefer playing.

I'd really love to convert some of their settings over, though.  There's some gonzo awesome in those pages, and I have to give them props as a company - they do a good job of keeping stuff in print, their books hold together well, and they are good to their fans - I love their Christmas Grab Bag they do each year, and have gotten it several times.

So last week, I logged in to TBP for the first time in years.

Great Zonk!  My most fevered right wing imaginings from 10 years ago about how far they tilted left are NOTHING on how badly they went full totalitarian.

It sucks, as it was a great place to discuss games and stuff, but the groupthink now has gotten on everything.

In news that is more on-topic, the newly-elected ultra-socialist president of Mexico (Lopez Obrador) has just called for millions of mexican migrants to "invade" the United States.

What's your source on this?  I can believe it, but my Google-Fu is weak.

I'd go with:
Rebel Alliance sourcebook
Imperial sourcebook
Platt's Starport guide
Bounty Hunter galaxy guide
The Black Sands of Socorro

I was also a fan of the Craken's Guides and the Adventure Journal.

Thanks. I still maintain that they proved my point rather spectacularly.

That they did.

I really miss the Tang of the early 2000s.  I learned an insane amount from people who were so very different from me.

That time is long since passed.

When they came for Gaza Echs, I knew it would only be a matter of time so I left.  I didn't scramble my credentials, suicide by Mod, or give a "Reason You Suck" speech on the way out, I just left.  I've seen some of the other bannings since then, and know I made the right call.

I still miss the community from back in the day.

I was active in The Pig and Whistle Society, their WoW guild, for a few years, and it was a great experience.  P and W had only two rules - don't be a dick, and pay it forward. would be a much better place if they had just those two same rules.

That's not fair.  I'd give her at least a 6 or 7.

I don't know what annoys me more - Origins disinviting Larry Correia, or Gencon inviting Anita Sarkeesian.
