This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Dan, would you mind reducing the size of the font you're using for "Introduction", since it looks weird when it appears on the front page?

Another solution would be to rearrange the start a bit, so the "preview" paragraph doesn't include the first heading.  (You might not have been aware, but the start of every review gets posted to the front page of the website, which increases exposure but also means that it can be displayed in ways you weren't expecting.)

Yeah.  In college I played in a long-running campaign (it was started the year before I enrolled, and was still going when I graduated and moved away) with two alternating co-GMs.  It worked great: there was no such thing as an "off night," since the GM who wasn't really feeling it could let the other one pick up the slack.

The game was Ars Magica, whose encouragement of large casts (with each player portraying multiple characters) aided by making it easier to have multiple parallel plot lines occurring simultaneously, so the two GMs didn't have to worry as much about stepping on each other's toes.

That said 100+ pages seems like a pretty steep buy in for GMs let alone players before you even get to character creation.

Speaking of GMs, the book doesn't seem to have advice in it for running a game.  I'm guessing that will appear in one of the upcoming supplements you mention.

Random initial impression: the "life path" section is really bad.

Just thought I'd mention - 333 copies of Nobilis 3rd edition are now available for pre-order from (payment by Paypal I believe). They're shipping in late March / early April, but you get the PDF immediately! I've got mine, I'm particularly digging the new take on Hell.

By chance I ended up with a free copy of the PDF.  I had tried to purchase with credit card (I am fond of PDF/print bundles), but it turns out that although Eos Press had put up a form they weren't actually able to process credit card payments, just PayPal (note to self, get a new credit card number).  So my order was cancelled, but as consolation everyone in my situation was sent a free copy of the PDF.

While I won't complain about getting something for free, having read the book I have no particular desire to ever own it in print.

All of the issues I had with GURPS were solved in BESM 3e.

Huh, interesting.  I thought BESM 2e was a mess, so I walked away and never gave the line a second though.  Maybe it's time I took another look.

Other Games / Dragon Age: Which mods to use?

Other Games / Dragon Age: Which mods to use?

I recently grabbed a copy of Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition (which includes the expansion and the various paid add-ons).  Since the game has been out for a while, I decided to look at what worthwhile mods might be out there.

I'm interested in hearing anyone's recommendations.  Here is what I found so far on my own; I basically browsed through a bunch of sources and saw if any names kept coming up, or sounded particularly interesting.  Since the Ultimate Edition comes with all of the paid DLC, I don't bother including mods that just replicate DLC content.

(Some forum) What are the best Dragon Age mods?
Stuff mentioned that was mentioned by multiple people
  • respec mod gets mentioned a bunch of times
  • "Skip the Fade" gets recommended by several people

(PC Gamer) 18 essential Dragon Age mods
Stuff mentioned that was also mentioned by another source
  • "Dragon Age Redesigned"
  • "Skip the Fade"
  • "Lock Bash"

Other things that sound interesting
  • Alley of Murders (extra adventure).  Why not?

(Some Website) Must-Have Mods for Dragon Age Origins
Stuff mentioned that was also mentioned by another source
  • Combat Tweaks
  • Advanced Tactics

I'm interested in finding mods that offer new content (e.g. dungeons, dialogue, characters).   Are there any mods in particular y'all would recommend, or advise me to stay away from?

As Moderating goes, I think its been unnecessary.

I agree with this, and think it was a mistake to allow Brett to moderate threads other than to remove spam.

I played it once.  It ran pretty well IMO.  Could have used a few more books.

Found this vid on YouTube....

Vin Diesel given a very impromptu D&D scenario by an interviewer:

He also has a point: he's a 5th level fighter and only has a rusty short sword?!  What kind of idiot DM is running this campaign?

After taking due care, I've removed the extra Daedalus.

They are, however, designed to simulate the ordinary kind of rape. Remember, garou rage makes them unsettling to humand and animals.

What connection do those two sentences have?  The surface reading of it suggests that animals get spooked around rapists, which seems ridiculous on the face of it so you probably meant something else.

A simple question: How many of you have actually gamed at least one session in the past year with someone who had less than one year's experience in RPGs?

Note: YOUR CHILDREN (or other family) DON'T COUNT.

There's a 26-year-old who hasn't gamed before in the campaign I'm playing in right now, in fact.
