This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

WinterBlight's Challenge Presents - Godsfall: Forge Of The Heavens

For thousands of years, the gods have fallen from the skies, their blazing flame-wreathed chariots proclaiming their divinity to the world. As sure as the sun rises, war follows each new arrival, the new gods competing with the old, each rewarding their faithful with powerful gifts created in the Forge of the Heavens.

Throughout Godsfall's history, pantheons have risen and fallen, and the land has become blighted by fanatical cults dedicated to its many dying religions. Everything changes, however, with the arrival of Strache, the god of Light and Thunder. Shortly after her arrival Strache is assassinated, not by another god, but seemingly by a mortal, a sorceress named Zirrit.

Somehow able to wield the most powerful gifts from the Forge of the Heavens, Zirrit declares the age of gods to have ended. Such declarations, however, do not go unanswered in a land aflame with zeal such as Godsfall. As the clouds of war gather, they promise a battle worthy of the end of times. The player characters find themselves caught up in events when they are hired to steal some of the most significant religious artefacts in all of Godsfall and bring them together on the Altar of Strache to stop the slaughter before it begins.

Can the player characters stay in front of the religious fanatics they have already stolen from as they search for the other artefacts they need to complete their task?

This mid level adventure uses the Old-School Essentials third party license, the NPC use stat blocks compatible with Old-School Essentials, but the adventure is generic enough that it can be used in almost any fantasy game.

Behold! High Adventure At High Tide! 100 Coastal Encounters

Not all adventures need take place in a city or a dungeon. Many settings have extensive coastlines, but for most, they are simply a demarcation on a map for where the land and adventure ends, and the fathomless sea begins. The coastline is a perfect location for adventure, and what better way than to stumble across something washed up on a beach, or indeed to be washed up on a beach. The following list provides 100 encounter hooks to seed the shoreline with adventure using all manner of flotsam and jetsam, both magical and mundane.

Blind Man's Alley is now up on DriveThruRPG

This mini-setting presents a series of locations, personalities, floor plans and adventure hooks. In Blind Man's Alley, the gravity-defying buildings cling as tight to the cliff edge as its residents do to their purse strings. So steep is its winding street that the city watch looks the other way rather than brave its treacherous inclines.

Using the Old-School Essentials third party license, the NPC use stat blocks compatible with Old-School Essentials, but the adventure is generic enough that it can be used in almost any fantasy game.

Each year, Lafaddius Eversweet leads the Caravan of Fools through the Valley of Long Shadows. To the small towns and villages, Lafaddius is a lifeline, bringing much needed news and trade. For most, it is a time of joy and celebration, but for a few, it is a time of sadness. Lafaddius recruits from among those that have come of age since his last visit. Offering a fair wage and a chance to see the great city of Tarsus Mor, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity young men and women of the valley can't resist. For those left behind, however, it is often the last time they see their loved ones, for few care to give up the opportunities in the city to return to the danger and poverty of the valley.

There is, however, a sinister side to Lafaddius Eversweet. Often recruiting more labourers and guards than he can possibly pay, Lafaddius honours a long standing agreement with the slavers of Tarsus Mor. Betraying those he considers excess cargo, Lafaddius delivers them directly to the slavers using an elaborate con. When the player characters sign on to the Caravan of Fools they learn that harsh truth when they themselves face betrayal at Tarsus Mor.

Do the player characters find themselves in chains, destined to compete in the combat arenas beyond the Black Dune Sea, or do they heed fate's warning, but face a stark choice – save those they travelled with from a similar fate, or confront Lafaddius Eversweet before the Caravan of Fools travels beyond their reach.
Betrayal At Tarsus Mor is an adventure for low level characters.

Any questions - please ask.

News and Adverts / The Tears Of Calista - A ZWEIHÄNDER Adventure
« on: August 17, 2019, 07:14:07 pm »
Hey all,

The Tears of Calista adventure module is now up on the Grim & Perilous Content Library. While the character stats are for Zweihander, the adventure is generic enough that I would suit almost any fantasy setting with only the NPC stats changed.

The town of Blenner's Crag sits perilously close to Castle Wardstone, a forlorn, haunted place burdened by an ancient curse. Once every ten years the revenant of Calista Esari returns to haunt the place of her death, her tortuous cries a clarion call to those with corruption in their hearts. Calista's tears hold terrible power, and when the time is right, and as the curse demands, Calista walks among those gathered to offer that power to Fate's Chosen.

Unfortunately for the people of Blenner's Crag, the cries of the revenant are a sign to barricade themselves behind locked doors, leaving their crops and livelihoods in the fields at the mercy of those attracted to the castle. One resident of 'The Crag' has had enough, however. Erbol Oppleood, tired of losing his cattle to marauders and thieves, decides to drive his herd to the nearest city. It is during his journey he chances across the player characters in the midst of a heroic deed and decides they are just the folk to put an end to such things as revenants and curses once and for all.

However, there is more to the curse than meets the eye. The player characters soon find themselves in a place where alliances are forged, old scores are settled, secrets are buried and where disputes are set aside long enough to hold the crumbling castle walls against determined foes.

Will the player characters find themselves among Fate's Chosen, their names inscribed in the Book of the Damned? Will they be tempted to take the power of the revenant's tears for themselves, killing those that stand in their way, or will they step forth as heroes and try to put an end to a centuries' old curse?

The Tears of Calista can be played as a standalone adventure, but can easily be used to enhance any ongoing campaign simply by adding non-playing characters and factions already known to the player characters. Will the player characters' enemies become allies and their friends become their would-be assassins as everyone fights to get their hands on the Tears of Calista?
