Well, the Chronicle of Darkness version of it. As soon as White Wolf (the new company) finishes their work on the new edition. OPP stops theirs. Except for the 20 year editions.

Dial your number of starting points back. Don't buy all the items in your starting packages. Trust me, GURPS can emulate the zero to hero pretty damn well. I remember a Fantasy game I once played in where we started with 25 points and 50 disad points. It worked out quite well once our active totals hit around 100. (20 sessions later.)

There is NO CR or level based ranking of NPCs/monsters to speak of. The game doesn't hold your hand when it comes to dangers. Some of the monsters in game can murder a group of PC's but thematically are more 'in the middle of the night' type horrors that pick away at parties forcing them to get smart. Othertimes, it's a pretty forward battle but your PC's are slowing going mad fighting the thing you are facing. Etc, etc.

It's a fair system, but MEAN sometimes. I'd say it does a decent job of capturing early Warhammer vibe for monsters/challenges.

Godbound are significantly more powerful that Scarlet Heroes characters as well. Even in the free version, most of this book is brand new material.

Yeah, all of Kevin Crawford's games are B/X variants, but I see the cross-compatibility as a bonus, and the rules are so light that I never feel like I am buying much redundant material.

Even if you don't want to buy it, I would look a little deeper into the free version. There is a lot of cool new stuff in there.

If anything the Mortal hero rules in Godbound I consider a upgraded version of the Scarlet Heroes rules since they are more freeform than it.

A massive undead/larval host manufacturing plant under a pyramid where clockwork zombies were being put together for brain bugs to ride in. These were then sold off auction style in lots to bidders for their own armies. Add to this the massive interlocking clockwork of the place, testing arenas, tram ways, and magical essence batteries to reanimate the dead and fill them moving machine parts to 'enhance' them.

Ya, I kinda went places in that game.

SoTL is one of my favorite purchases in the last year. I'd say right up there with Godbound. It's a fantastic, MEAN, game that doesn't really pull any punches when it comes to the horror of the setting.

And yes, the elves are messed up evil faeries who will WRECK YOU UP if you look at them funny.

They start doing things with out rolling like...Picking up a fully armored horse/rider and using it as a club, running at speeds rivaling race cars overland, casting maxed power powers with no actual 'cost' to them, doing crazy 'do me a favor' rolls on NPCs that can casually beat almost any normal range of difficulty.

Domain powers are stuff like commanding seraphs (mechano angels) around for free, being immortal, hearing your name spoken, locked in loyal minions.

I'd say they are not QUITE as powerful as Godbound PCs, but serious demigod material. The game lacks the domain mechanic of Godbound but trades in their domain/control quest mechanic instead. A slower power curve over all.

I played quite a bit of DragonStar. But I'd say the most consistent rules wise would be Stars Without Numbers.

I want to like Starfinder, I really do. And I hope it sells well and is a nice system. But if it has the modifier soup that 3.X games are known for, I might hold off on buying more than a pdf copy.
