This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

also found the "choose your own genitals" to be quite jarring at the start of the game. If you're going to do that, you don't have to have a floppy dick appear.
Does it hold a candle to what you could do in Conan Exiles (even if only via console command, iirc)?

Quite NSFW, though not in an erotic way (unless you are really, really weird):

The whole character customizer is completely pointless, since:

(a) there's no third person view option
(b) your character doesn't show a reflection, even in surfaces where NPCs are showing a reflection
(c) some if not all of the cutscenes don't show your character either
(d) none of it matters anyways in-game.
Character customization is extremely important for lots of people - no matter if they can look at their character or not.
Appearance for many is as vital to make a character "their own" as the stat & skill customization is.
You can't just handwave that away.

Of course, you are still correct that you should at least be able to look at yourself in this game and that you can't is just one of the many shortcomings of it.
Working mirrors are really not that impossible to have in a game.
It's just a another camera looking through from the "other side" of the mirror, with its view projected onto the mirror surface. Not totally trivial, but you'd think a game of that scale should pull it off.

Other Games / Re: Kenshi anyone here playing it?

I tried.

But I really didn't like the interface - it's very cumbersome and makes everything more difficult than it would have to be. It tries to be both a party-based RPG and a strategy survival management game at the same time - but those two genres would require very different UI approaches to have a good UI.
I also didn't like how randomly you can get rekt by just about everything - forcing you to spend many hours in the early game basically only doing boring crap because at least hauling stones back and forth and attacking dummies won't get you killed.

The late game might be more interesting, but I never really got there - if a game isn't interesting from the start, I usually just don't bother further with it.

It was quite disappointing as I followed the game since way back when it was still using the Ogre engine.
There's some hope that Kenshi 2 will fix some of my criticisms, but who knows if that ever comes out.

Pretty good example of how things got more detailed and more "rugged".

Even the lines on the walls are less straight  ;D

I currently work on the ambient nature sounds for the game
What are you using for sound effects in the game?
Whenever I went out looking for sound effects or even free music, I was always overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff available - how to not spend days simply filtering out candidates?

I'm not sure if this is my kind of game - and I'm not generally too fond of exaggerated fan service - but I'm willing to buy it simply to support devs that do not bow down to the bullying SJW mob.
That's rare enough.

Playing Age of Empires 2, Definitive edition, which is really fun.
Playing AoE 3 Definitive Edition here.
After they botched the release (as they always do, AoE2 DE was the same mess) the game is now in an acceptable state.

Well deserved, though.

They really dug their own grave with this.
And without any real need whatsoever.

They never should've made release date announcements without being absolutely certain.
After already delaying it 3 times, I get why they didn't want to delay it even further - yet they should have, anyway. Would have caused way less damage.

If they had just waited for a 2021 release, they also could've prevented breaking their "no crunch" promise.
As it is now, they let people crunch for no reason whatsoever - game's buggy af anyway.
Or they should at least not have released it on last gen consoles (or later).

But they got greedy and paid the price with their rep and a whole lot of cash.
I have no doubt they'll patch up the game and it will be good or great once it's done - but man, this whole situation just makes me sad as it was entirely avoidable.

Played it a ton with my GF.
I'd really consider it the best co-op game (within that genre) out there.

We stopped playing as soon as we hit Veteran, though, as my GF couldn't quite keep up at that level - while I got somewhat bored of anything below it.
Plus, we had already played all the classes, found our favourites, knew all the maps, etc.

Playing with random people was a nightmare, though, as people would just run off or do other stupid crap to get everyone killed.
One of the few instances where bots are genuinely more useful than other people.

It's a shame that Fat Shark is so slow in producing more content.
Though I think we'll come back once Kerillian, Victor & Sienna get new classes - if that ever happens, that is.
Hopefully at that time, there'd be some new maps as well so it would be enough content to get back into the game.

Going to get into the game myself - but only next year.
Way too many games in my backlog before that, and definitely worth it to wait for a few more patches ;)

Oh yes, that music is very satisfying.

Reminds me a lot of Diablo I music - which is a great thing.

I have no idea what I'm gonna get, honestly.
Plus I didn't really utter any wishes (frankly, I wouldn't have an idea what to gift to myself if I had to).

My GF brought this big ass box that I wasn't allowed to see the contents of.
It'll remain a mystery until shortly before Christmas (gonna get mine sooner as we won't be able to take it with us when we visit family over Christmas).
Who knows, maybe it's a giant toy horse  ;D
I wonder what it could be? I have 3 guesses:
1) A Playstation 5
2) A very small Car
3) A severed human head
I base these choices on the types of GFs I've had before!  :-[
A toy horse though? Where would it sleep? (I've heard of toy DOGS, but...)  ;D
A) I hope not. That would be a waste as I don't play on consoles. Pure PC master race, here.
B) At least I'd be able to find a parking slot in the city!
C) Would be cool if it was the head of one of my enemies.

I guess I put the topic in the wrong section. Lex Arcana might not be perfect, but it's surely an rpg not a storygame.

Most importantly, it's actually a PnP RPG and not a video game (or board game) one, which this section is mostly for ;)

The characters are agents of a special unit of the Pretorian Guard, the Cohors Auxiliaria Arcana, that investigates unknown/enemy forms of magic.
Before you went on to say the same yourself, I immediately thought: "Well, that could be interesting, but there must be other options, right?"

The premise of the world sounds pretty amazing, but you can bet your buttocks that I'd rather play anyone else in that world and not Mulder & Scully every single time.

Sounds a bit like playing a Star Trek themed game, with all the vastness of the world, but you can only be in Star Fleet.
