I prefer civil discourse but with someone like whats-her-face that is just no possible. I have not seen a single post or comment from her that was not designed, IMHO, to elicit a negative response. That's called being a troll, and I try not to feed the trolls. I prefer blocking them. As for looser moderation, I too suspect I am still here because of that so as a beneficiary I cannot complain!

I don't think he's gonna see your post, since I think he probably still has you on the ignore setting. On the plus side, lower chances of thread derailment all around, and less unnecessary strife.

Anyway, with respect to the thread topic at hand, what did you think about all the views and lurkers this section gets? There seems to be demand, even if supply is a bit meh. Likewise, I can't really measure the value of just having a place where folks can recruit for games and the like. Seems like the kind of thing we might want to have even if it only gets used occasionally.

I get wanting more activity in this section, and I do think this thread has brought attention to that, but I don't really know if that's a thing that could be encouraged through site policy or the like. Likewise, there have over the years been some games, recruitment, and stuff, if not especially spectacular.

Is there an upside to dropping this segment? I feel like the opportunity cost lies more with not having it than having it. Relatively minor thought it may be. Could certainly be I'm just not seeing the perks at the moment, but IDK.

I understand foul language.  I was in the Army for two decades.
I can understand political speech and active debate.  That is fine.

But the poster called another member a name that could have been offensive.

Pundit himself has called people here the same, and worse. Thick skin is occasionally required where free speech is concerned.
