Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Wanting to run a Game

I'd be willing to run a game for nearly anyone, doing nearly any system. Any takers?

Uh, what do you really want to run? Or rather, what are you actually up for running?

Serious Paul

Well I can run Earthdawn, D&D 3.5e, Shadowrun, TMNT, and well...I mean I'm a quick learner.

DeadUematsu

I could go for either Earthdawn (FASA), Shadowrun (4E), or TMNT.

Serious Paul

Let me see if I can recruit us at leas one more player, and we'll do Earthdawn. We'll start about a hundred years or so ahead of the First edition time line, with the group still being inside the Kaer, getting ready to emerge. As long as I have at least two players we can get this moving!

Jackalope

I'd play if it was TMNT.

I might even play if it was Earthdawn, but it's been years since I looked at Earthdawn and only remember the world was really complex.

Serious Paul

I can run either, and am absolutely willing to abide by the majorities wishes!

DeadUematsu

If we play TMNT, what books would we be allowed to use?

Serious Paul

To my knowledge I own all of the TMNT books, so no worries there. If we play TMNT the game will be set in 1985 Baltimore, in world that's fairly similar to our own. I'll have to sit down and look at the books this evening so I can post character limitations.

Generally speaking I try not to limit good ideas, and good characterization.

1985 is an awesome year to set a game of TMNT.  I can use art from the game itself for my character, since that game is totally stuck in the 80's.  I know absolutely nothing about Baltimore, except that the Orioles play there.

I'm going to go roll up a random character right now.  Wait, no, I'm going to go research 1985.  Relying on what I remember of it is probably a bad idea (I was nine).

Is Transdimensional TMNT allowed?  Can I play a T-Rex?  You can buff a TMNT T-Rex up to car-juggling strength levels pretty easily.  It's okay to say no, that whole book is pretty wacky balance-wise.

I'd be up for Earthdawn.

Edit: I'm arranging to get it.

A Goblin\'s Progress, or Of Cannons and Canons;
An Oration on the Dignity of Tash, or On the Elves and Their Lies

Either Earthdawn or TMNT would be fine by me.

I would be interested. I would prefer Earthdawn, but would be willing to play TMNT; I've never read the game [or seen the show or movies or read the comics] but I think I can probably pick it up.
When you\'re a bankrupt ideology pursuing a bankrupt strategy, the only move you\'ve got is the dick one.

Okay this changes things a little. Looks like everyone is weighing on Earthdawn? Is that correct? If so we'll get started on Monday, is the weekend enough to get characters made?

I did receive Jack's TMNT character-which looks good at first glance by the by sir-but if we do Earthdawn you will all be playing characters who have yet to emerge from their Kaer, the details of which I will have posted during this weekend. Characters should be 1st Circle, and can be chosen from any Discipline except the following:

  • Sky Raider
  • Air Sailor
  • Cavalryman
  • Other Specialty Disciplines may need approval (For instance I could see some justification for Liberator's and Horror Stalker's, but not so much for Purifier's, Traveled Scholar's or Out Cast Warrior's. )
You may purchase equipment as normal, but expect your Kaer to supply you with at least some basic goods once they decide to send an adventuring party forth to see what's out there.

There may possibly be a thread item or two passed out-this sort of depends on what you all collectively generate-but none may be purchased during character creation. We will use the point purchase system listed in the Main Earthdawn Book, on Page 47 except instead of 66 points, you will get 70 points-which reflects all the time you've had to sit around and perfect you, but the lack of real world learning.

When purchasing skills keep in mind that some skills just simply can not be learned in you Kaer-Astronomy, Wild Animals, stuff like that.

Races are only limited in that you can not play T'Skrang, or Obsidimen. None of you have ever seen either one of them, but have heard of them through legends and tales.

Questions?
