This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

That all looks good (and thanks for letting me know about the typo).

Depending on how things go for me over the next few days I hope to start next week.

Sounds good. I have the character mostly created as far as I can tell. Gonna transfer him to a character sheet, then type him up into the post I started for him. I've also been adding edits to my previous post about stuff such as the Verutum and it being listed as both Heavy Melee and Medium Melee.

Quote from: BedrockBrendan;489700Thanks Sigmund. That is a great catch.

No problem bro, part of the reason for doing this right? :) The Verutum is important for a Roman soldier. It is supposed to be Medium Melee right?

I have to check the equipment list (don't have the doc at the moment) but I believe I wanted the verutum to be medium and the hasta to be heavy. In a recent playtest one of them was shifted and that probably explains the error.

Okay :) My character will have both medium and heavy melee anyway, so no biggie in the end, at least for this chargen.

I've filled in most of my character. One question I have is, what in the way of equipment would I be able to buy, and would it include my weapons and armor? Is the game going to take place in Rome itself, and would I be assumed to have a place to live (the family home) or is that something I'd have to buy? Also, still waiting on whether I choose my own Patron/Ally or if that's the GM's job.

Because you are a praetorian you can purchase their standard equipment without much fuss. Anything beyond that you can probably get your hands on. You can create your own patrons/clients or work them out with me. Given your wealth as an equestrian you probably have a house in Rome or just outside it. We will be starting in Rome but you will probably venture to other provinces).

Cool. Since I'm a Praetorian, it makes sense to me to have a house inside Rome. I'll work on the equipment list, but I plan on having the standard Praetorian gear, plus maybe a few extra nick-knacks, but nothing crazy.

How far into the campaign do you guys prefer to start? Would you rather we begin prior to your characters being made members of servants of gaius or would you prefer to already be members?

I'm good either way. FYI, I'm going out of town for the week of Thanksgiving and will not have reliable access to internet connection.

No problem. We can start the week following thanksgiving (try to start EDIT NOV 28 if that works).

Bedrockbrendan

Checked out invisible castle and if I can register without an issue (and it is cool with everyone else), I figure we cam use that for rolls (skofflox suggested this earlier in the thread).

Also, everyone should probably have a back up character just in case.

skofflox

hiya gang. Still interested in PbP here...just been busy as of late so less time to post.
:)

When is the tentative start date for this? I can be ready to roll by the end of this coming weekend...(ED: ahh I see the week of the 28th is in the works!)

(Brendan, still working out the schedule for a Playtest of SoG...looks like 2 players sometime soon after Thanksgiving.)

I trust all is well with y'all !
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
:D
Form the group wisely, make sure you share goals and means.
Set norms of table etiquette early on.
Encourage attentive participation and speed of play so the game will stay vibrant!
Allow that the group, milieu and system will from an organic symbiosis.
