This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[Off-Site, PBeM] New Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay PBeM

I'm starting a new Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay PBeM game, and looking for players. It'll be an old-fashioned sandbox-style game, set in the Border Princes, with the PCs as newcomers in the area seeking fame, fortune, or something else. If you're interested, send me pm here, or an email at jean.delumeau AT gmail.com. Here's the info dump I sent some of my prospective players:

What You Know

Auerbach is a typical region of the Border Princes, being a patchwork of tiny human principalities and greenskin tribes, mixed up with more sinister and dangerous fare. As with the rest of the Border Princes it has a rich history of layers of colonisation, from different civilisations both ancient and modern. This has left it with a scattering of ruins from various eras, stretching back for thousands of years. The most ancient ruins of all are the remnants of the Shirogao civilisation - a race of elves who once inhabited the region but disappeared long ago. After them came dwarves, then a general collapse, then Arabyans and Bretonnians. Most recently Auerbach was colonised by Tileans, who called the region Montereggioni. Nowadays the influx of human population tends to be from the Empire, and people now call it 'Auerbach' after its largest town.

Eight princes currently call Auerbach home, and squabble over its mountains, hills and scrub plains with the typical mixture of ferocity and cunning found all over the Border Princes. The town of Auerbach itself is owned by one Noseless Grundi, a dwarf bandit chief who styles himself a Duke. South of Grundi's 'realm' is an area owned by 'Captain' Konrad, another bandit chief who made it big, and to the east lives Archbishop Luc, an exiled Bretonnian priest, who has carved out a small power bloc for himself. You are unsure of the identities of the other five, though you hear that one of them is a man from the near legendary land of Cathay.

Geographically, Auerbach is characterised by the large range of mountains which bisect it and which are called The Spine. One the eastern side of these mountains are scrub plains, badlands and desert; on the west are forested plains and grassy hills. The west contains the majority of the human population and most of the human power; the east is generally inhabited by the greenskins, monsters, and worse.

Who You Are

You are newcomers to Auerbach - part of the steady trickle of adventurers, thrill-seekers and settlers who come to the region in search of fame or fortune or just survival. To get any of those things what you will need to do above all is take risks - whether trailblazing new trade routes, catching criminals for bounty, killing monsters and greenskins for mighty rewards, plundering ancient ruins, or working for one of the 'princes' and doing their bidding. Attempting any of those things is easy; succeeding is hard.

The Game

I'll send each player a handful of rumours at the start of play - of potential jobs and possibilities for adventure - that you've picked up during your first few days about town. You can then pursue any of those rumours at your leisure, as a group. You'll be free to do what you please and go anywhere you wish, and a small map of your 'known area' will be provided to help you do that. Venturing beyond its bounds is perfectly possible, and to be encouraged.
