This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Ok. Abyssal, what type of monster are you going to summon?

Ian, are you going to throw an axe at the approaching spiders?

If people could post round by round actions here and convert that to flowery in character stuff on the IC thread, that should speed things along a bit. Then i'll report the mechanical effects of your actions here and do a bit of descriptive text to the IC thread myself. :)

Ok, my plan is for Orlok to summon a Celestial Badger.

It's only going to be able to fight for 1 combat round, so once the badger appears, (hopefully right next to one of the spiders- I can cast the summon at range) it automatically rages and full-attacks the nearest spider. I have augmented summoning, so it will have +4 strength, +4 con. Also, it's raging, so add another +4 str, +4 con on there.

(Also it is smiting evil in it's first claw attack in case the spider is evil).

Since the badger has weapon finesse, the extra strength only affects damage.

The stats you shoul use are +4/+4/-1 (claw/claw/bite)
damage is 1d3+3/1d3+3/1d2+3

If the spider is evil, the first claw attack is +1 more damage (for smite evil)

Once it attacks, the badger disappears.

If Garren locks up one of the spiders in melee, I summon the badger into the flanking position, so he gets +2 on all his attacks (+6/+6/+1)

Luludha has been sighting a favorable shot, then lets fly an axe at the lead spider, immediately readying her second axe to throw at the same spider. (Er, don't forget -- small weapons. :deflated: )

As stated, I'll engage whichever spider gets within range first - UNLESS the boar is engaging one of us, then I'll deal with him first.

Luludha throws her throwing axe at one of the spiders, 6+4 =10, miss. Orlok summons a celestial badger next to the other spider. As it has not been hit in combat, it is not raging as it attacks, claw 16 +4 = 20, hit, 2 damage, 4 +4 = 8, miss, bite 18 -1 = 17, hit for 4 damage. Spider two is dead and the badger vanishes.

By the end of the round, the boar is running through your ranks and the remaining spider is about 10 feet away.

Initiative
Spider 14
Luludha13
Garren 12
Orlok 4

The spider moves towards Garren and attacks 9+4 = 13, miss.

What do you do?

EDIT: Feel free to post in character posts to reflect the mechanical results posted here.

Le sigh.

Luludha keeps an eye open for the boar, but focuses on the remaining spider (you know, the one she whiffed on with her first axe).  Shifting her second readied axe into her favored hand, she whacks at the first available bit of spider, preferably away from the fangs.

Since the spider has engaged me, I'll return the favor. :)

That's a tad presumptuous, don't you think?

Orlok readies his crossbow and loads it hastily, trying to draw a bead on the spider.

(that is, 1 action to draw a weapon, and 1 action to load it, since I have a +0 BAB)

Ok, see you in the IC thread...

Ok. After the spider misses Garren, Luludha tries to hit it with her axe, 10 + flanking 2 = 12, miss. The Garren swings his mighty sword, 10 + 5 + 2= 17, hit, 16 damage! *ouch!*

Orlok cocks his crossbow and sights at the beast only to discover it to be a sticky mess on the forest floor.

I will make an IC post to reflect the combat shortly.

Spot Hidden anyone?  Luludha is going to give it a serious bash at the impediment/wall/mosaic.

I have Spot, but in this case I think Search would be more appropriate.

See?  There's my old skool training showing its age.  Sorry about that.  Yes, Search.  Crap, I thought I had that skill, but it seems I focused on avoiding notice, not noticing avoidance.  Still, I'll give it an unskilled bash.

Point of order from the IC thread...
Quote from: One Horse Town
Your investigations uncover more of the mosaic. Off to one side of the ruin of the buildings floor, a golden radiance is revealed. This light shines upon a giant fish that is leaping from a choppy sea.
Is that a depiction of golden radiance, or an actual glow emanating from the mosaic?  I've been assuming the former, but...
