This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I am starting a play by post Mutant Future game over at Rpol. I'm looking for 3-6 players. Here is a short description of the game:

RUDE AWAKENING: A MUTANT FUTURE CAMPAIGN

In the year 2155 the world is very much the same as it has been for the last 155 years. The only difference is the level of technology. Huge advances in computers, robotic, cybernetics, and energy have led to the development of a variety of new devices, machines, and of course weapons that have made life easier but more dangerous. Politics, unfortunately, are the same as ever. Global powers wrestle over the rapidly vanishing resources of the world. The occasional war flares up between small countries, but never last long enough to involve the major powers (although they are always involved behind the scenes). Despite the tension, however, global stability appears to be maintained.

Medical technology has also advanced considerably. New cures for diseases alleviate the suffering of millions. But just as soon as a new cure is found, it seems that a new disease appears. In order to save more lives, researchers and doctors at the University of Kansas have perfected a process of placing humans in a state of suspended animation. The hope is that people with currently incurable diseases can be placed in hibernation until medical science has time to develop a cure. But long-term tests with human subjects are needed to see what effect years of suspended animation have on the human body.

You volunteered to be a part of a five-year study. You had your own personal reasons to take part. But everyone involved was promised a large paycheck at the end of the experiment, enough to live comfortably for the rest of your lives. At 9:00 am on June 1, 2155 you were placed into a titanium cylinder and the world slipped away. If all went well, you would wake up in 2160 as if no time had passed. However, something went terribly wrong in the five years that you were sealed away beneath the university in suspension chambers. No one woke you up and you remained asleep until the power finally failed and you awoke to find yourselves in the dark. Some of you have changed while others have remained the same as the day you went into the metal tubes. None of you has any idea as to how long you have been sleeping or what has happened to the world above. All you can do for now is try to survive.

Rude Awakening will use the Mutant Future rules available for free at: http://www.goblinoidgames.com/mutantfuture.html. All characters will start at first level. Most characters should be either pure strain or mutant humans, but mutant animals and plants may be used as long as a back story is provided (a mutant animal could have been one of the other players pets or simply a lab animal). Androids may not be used at the start of the game but can be added later. All characters start off with no equipment, just the clothes on their back (or not even that if you are a plant or animal). I'll also be using a simplified skill system. I'm looking for 3-6 players of all gaming experience.

For more information or to join the game go to the game page at Roleplay Online (http://rpol.net/game.cgi?gi=40317&date=1267018856).

Have passed this info on to some pbp / Mutant Future / Gamma World etc. folks I know. Much luck, I like Sleeper campaigns but pbp is not for me or I'd join. Mutant Future's fun, enjoyed the playtest, though the poor flying mushroom that flew around by farting didn't go over well with the corresponding player unfortunately. ;)
