This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Okay I've mentioned bits and peices in general discussion but I would really like to get a game of this going.

Going for a late 18th Century game in London. The players will be either working for Prosecution or Defence of a random defendant accused of a random capital crime (I'll make the roll when we get going.)

Come up with a brief character concept and a preference for defence or prosecution and we'll go from there.

am interested...I have no knowledge of legal jargon etc...asides from being on the receiving end!
Is there an on-line resource for checking out the basic mechanics?
:)
Form the group wisely, make sure you share goals and means.
Set norms of table etiquette early on.
Encourage attentive participation and speed of play so the game will stay vibrant!
Allow that the group, milieu and system will from an organic symbiosis.
Most importantly, have fun exploring the possibilities!

Running: AD&D 2nd. ed.

For the purposes of the game there are a few terms you should know.

Attorney: Lawyer assigned to the case though not in the full on capacity of the Barrister.

Barrister: The legal representative of either the Crown or Defendant in a Crown case.

Beadle: Parish Official in charge of the poor and in some cases criminals.

Magistrate: Or Justice of the Peace. Volenteer official of the lower Magistrate's courts. Pretty much all cases start in front of Magistrate.

Theif Taker: Kind of like a modern Private Detective except they got paid a bounty per conviction. Corrupt as fuck.

I'll explain how the trial works in game and story terms when we get to it.

There is a pretty cool dictionary of slang availible in the public domain here http://www.fromoldbooks.org/NathanBailey-CantingDictionary/transcription.html

Well I need at least two players for Prosecution and Defence so we'll see if we generate any more interest.
