SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Howdy folks!

This thread is to collect character information for The Wargate's Palladium RPG game.

Into the Megaverse Resources
The online portion of the game will be focused on investigation, exploration and diplomacy.

Palladium Resources

To create a character, use the above resources and take the following steps.

  • Read the background resources for the current season and choose a character as normal.
  • Make a single post in this thread with your characters' statistics.  If anything needs changed, we'll fix that here as you can edit your posts.  Any character advancement will be done in the same fashion, i.e. you'll update your post here so we can reference it easily.
  • Do not roll attributes.  Instead pick one of them you want your character to be "superior".
  • Choose skills and powers normally, save the following guidelines:
  • Choose only Skill Programs.  List only choices you make from within that Program, there's no need to write it all down right now when it's easy to calculate.
  • Do not select Secondary Skills.  This will be handled as the characters develop or are introduced to the live sessions.
  • Do not choose equipment.  Delta Front will make sure you have the gear you need.
  • Present 2-3 paragraphs (of 3+ sentences each) of background and character information, including principal motivations.

Note that Physical Skills taken WILL increase the chances of any such physical activity succeeding.  However, do not record the final skill value, only the individual skills taken and total bonuses.
All character development correspondence will take place here.

So, our guys have never done Play-By-Post, so it's been a little confused getting started.

It's ok though!  Here's how it will work:
  • Every Wednesday, I'll post in the Game Thread and make sure it goes up on the Wargate Facebook.  From here, you simply interact as your characters.  Note this is a separate thread:  this one is for character development.
  • Read the entry for the scenario and make a post detailing your character's actions.
  • During the week, we will go back and forth.  I'll generally check it every day, but it's not mandatory you reply every day.  This is at your leisure.
  • For randomizations:  lets get the game going first, then we'll talk about online randomizers and how we can use them here.  For now, I'll be using a probability system that is influenced primarily by your roleplay choices.  The Delta Front scenarios will be more about investigation, diplomacy and exploration.
  • Each weekly scenario will dovetail with the live session game that will come up the following Tuesday.  Your success here will determine starting scenario conditions with your diplomacy, influence their choices during the game with your investigations, and determine ground level influence in each zone with your explorations.
  • Failure to complete a scenario will have dire consequences on the live session!
  • Your character is available for live session play, either in person or via the interwebz.  When participating in the live session, a completed version of the character will be used.  This is not necessary to worry about until the live session is joined.
Here's an example of how you'll build your characters for the online scenarios here.  Also provided is a template, for your ease of use in creating your character.  Use this template to get it ready...1st Scenario goes up this Wednesday, and the live group needs you!

If you don't have access to the Ninjas & Superspies rules, just holla at me on FB.

This example is a Delta Front NPC your characters know well as a Delta Front handler.

Background
Taylor Austin began his military career over two decades ago, right out of High School in Southwest Texas.  It didn't take long for his superiors to recognize his command ability, and he spent a good portion of his time in the army in the infantry.  No one under his present command know much about how he came to join Delta Front, but he has been Delta Front's military adviser in the United States Army for nearly six years.

He now presides as a handler for various Delta Front Committees needing to operate within (or with) the United States Military.  He is a stern commander, humorless and grim.  However, he's well respected by the men under his command, which include a large contingent of Delta Front Commandos.

Note:  Accumulated Bonuses are only recorded for Attribute bonuses gained from skills selected from a program.  Add any non-variable bonuses directly to the HtH readout.

For example, Colonel Austin has the Basic Military Program, and he can select 1 Physical skill for that program.  He selected Boxing, which comes with some flat bonuses for  Parry/Dodge and Roll with Punch/Fall.  Those are added to his HtH readout and left out of the Accumulated Bonuses.  However, Boxing also grants +1d4 to Physical Strength and +3d6 to S.D.C., so these are recorded in the Accumulated Bonuses section.

Trust me, there is a reason for all this.  Use the template below to get started.

Background
Mike Hard grew up on the tough streets of Newark, NJ in the 70s. Growing up broke, uneducated, and black led the streetwise youth into a life of gangbanging, drug pushing, and riding for his neighborhood colors.

After many stints in youth offender lock-ups, Mike met who would become like a father to him, Ret. Col. Cos D'Amata. The Retired Col. in his later years had became a boxing manager and trainer, as well as offering his training services to the Juvinile Court Systems to help give direction to troubled youth.

Mike and Col. Cos were inseperable. Mike showed major natural skill and strength in the ring. Upon release Mike moved in with Col. Cos at his country home in Upstate New York and began what would be the start of one of the greatest and shortest boxing legacies in history.

Mike grew into a beast naturally. A strong regimen of proper diet and non-stop training built Mike into a ferocious challenger. Mike and the Col. proudly and quickly rose in the ranks of amature boxing up into the big leagues. In less than 2 years, Mike won the American Heavyweight Belt and all that came with it... fame, money, girls, and trouble...

The Col. passed away shortly after Mike aquired the championship belt, leaving Mike to his emotional and self-destructive attitudes. Spending less time on the mat and more at the club, Mike lost the belt and began a downhill spiral into dark times. Hanging out with famous rappers and nefarious gamblers Mike landed himself a 10 year stint in prison for a brutal assualt, leaving three beaten physically to the point of permanent disability and disfigurement.

Mike sat in prison for 5 years before early release for good time. He found his finances ruined and his one time fame long gone. Mike has since been looking for work as a mercenary, putting his physical strength and training to work for hire and going so far as to enhance his body with cybernetic devices.
