This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

(Interest) Exalted - Search for Truth

For those that follow the What the Hell thread about Exalted 3rd edition you know what this is about.  I am going to prove a point that you can have a exalted game without the clunky rules that serves to bog down the game.  Secondly this is a chance to test out my system that is design to be simple, quick, and allow lots of choices without requiring a rules lawyer to figure it out.  Other words it is straight to the point while diverse in character options.

What does my system offer you may ask?  It is at first glance it appears to be a generic percentage dice game.  The killer app are the assets.  Assets are few in number, but provide a wealth of options through four mechanics.  Bypass which allows you to automatically succeed in the roll.  Effects which allows you to use powers suitable of that asset.  Restore which allows you to regain heroic points faster in rest.  Finally ranks which improves the the other three mechanics.

Point is this system is my weapon of choice to prove my point.

Like I said, I'm down for it. Although I don't think very highly of percentage systems.

Reason I did that was to be simple.  I tried to make a d20 version, but I kept fucking that up.

Still I am trying to figure out exalted things so I need input.  You want caste to be attributes?  Go with normal attributes?  Reason why is that there is no skills in my game so your just rolling attributes.

While your at it can you answer these questions?

What exalted are you?  I assuming solar, but you can be others.  Terrestrial, siderials, lunars, and abyssals are fine by me.

What caste are you going with?

What concept are you going with?

Name me three backgrounds you want.

Backgrounds?

Soldier of the Realm, Scholar and Mad Magitecher? That sort of thing?

I was going for merits that for some reason 2nd edition devs called backgrounds.  Such things as manse, followers, allies, influence, familiars, resources, relics, and you get the drill.

In that case: Artifact (Dire Lance), Resources (IDK how you want to rate that) and something something think of it later.

I would give dire lance a fancy name.  I mean it is a artifact.  Also how are you getting money and yes it needs a name.

And I'm back after getting the crap kicked out of me by a cold.

Anyway, I'd like to change the Dire Lance to a Grand Daiklave, since my love of massively oversized swords is calling to me.  And I kind of like the fact that this guy doesn't know it's actual name.  It called to him, and he found it, but there's script adorning the blade that he can't read, so he just calls it the Slayer and leaves it at that, although he does want to know it's name and history.

As far as how he came by his Resources, in his mortal days, and after he Exalted for that matter, he was the head of a band of raiders.  After he exalted they became wildly more successful, but he became reckless and decided they were going to hit a Realm caravan bring wealth to the Blessed Isle from the Threshold.  While he and his band pulled it off, it drew exactly the wrong sort of attention, and a punitive Hunt was sent after them, destroying the band and kicking his ass.

Which leads to the third background, a Clockwork arm. He lost one of his during the battle with the Wild Hunt, and was given a replacement by a celestial figure he suspects is Sunipa although he's unsure in exchange for a massive favor to be repayed at a later date.

And I just realized I made the main character from Berserk.  Shit.

He is so Berserk.  Now the two artifacts are okay, but let's be honest here.  With the bandit band your not earning income and it isn't like the money you took will last for long.  Can I suggest a guide, or ally instead (aka the one that fix your arm)?

Ally it is.

To be fair, Berserk is fucking awesome, and not really darker than a lot of Exalted, so I'm ok with this.

Well if I wanted to go dark I would go abyssal.  Still Berserk is really heroic given the setting he is in.

Now I need caste and concept.

Caste is easy. Dawn.  Concept...brash warrior for hire is what first comes to mind.
