While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). I merely watch it, waiting to see what happens but prepared to get out of the way of whatever happens.

Mechanically reading to Dodge if something seems threatening or attacks.

Caden will move closer to Alric and relay to him, quietly, that it is an illusion.

"It is?" Alric stares harder at it.

Next Round Alric will pick up a small rock to toss at it to test this, still not sure.

Round 1

Alric - warding off evil and stepping back, watches Mal for a reaction.
Bright Feather - ?
Caden -?
Hanalee - ?
Karnath - ?

I'll assumed dazed and confused after the end of the weekend. Let me know otherwise until then! :)

Bright Feather frowns..."it should have worked, this place is very dangerous but we promised to help". She's watching warily looking at the guys questions filling her eyes

Thanks Bright Feather! Did you want to do anything for already resolved Round 2, or upcoming Round 3? Let me know!

Caden Investigated in Round 2, moved closer to Alric and relayed quietly his findings.

Alric Investigated in Round 2, telling Mal to hold still for safety. Heard Caden's assessment and acknowledged the exchange.

So far only Alric has declared his Round 3.

Round 2

?? Woman remains gazing beyond to the East, like she lost in song, continuing:
"Maria blows the stars around
And sends the clouds a’flyin’"
Just make your fuckin' guy and roll the dice, you pricks. Focus on what's interesting, not what gives you the biggest randomly generated virtual penis.  -- J Arcane

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it's more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Caden nods at Alric's suggestion. "I don't think it's a trap, so go ahead and see how it reacts".

Moving to Round 3, last chance to declare your action...

Round 3

Karnath is still by the Main Trail, not inside the Old Graveyard. Though she is aware where her friends are, by Livonia's Monument, and does hear the singing.
------------------

Hanalee, Caden, & Bright Feather decide to take no action on their turns.

Alric picks up a stone and tosses it at the singing lady...

??? Lady sings her song, oblivious:

"Maria makes the mountains sound

... as the stone goes through her dress at the waist and, 'chts', bounces off what sounds like another rock, obviously the monument she's leaning on.

Like folks were up there dying"

No reaction and intangible. Hmm, an illusion.

Everyone by Livonia's Monument (Passes their Passive Perception) hears a rustle by the woody rough nearest the monument (a touch greater than a dashing turn away). Turning to look, you see two very small, bipedal silhouettes, one squatting and hugging the standing one's leg, as the other cradles the squatter's head. You catch snippets of cooing, matching harmony to the song.

Round 4 actions?

Caden will turn slowly toward the creature so as not to alarm, he hopes to get a better look at them.

Alric & Caden
SPOILER (Hover over section below to view.)

Those silhouettes are familiar. Looks like flower-ear and gnaw-bone.

Alric will nod at the illusion as if he has its number.

Then side step slowly as not to draw attention from the other watchers and hide behind Caden. More to reduce the number of people so as not to frighten them.

Mechanical - action to hide. at +4, Rolz not working (Maybe cause I am at work?)

Caden will try to position himself closer to flower-ear and gnawbone in an attempt to see what their interest in the illusion is.

Round 4

Karnath remains outside the Old Graveyard.
---------------------

Hanalee & Bright Feather both listen to the mysterious lady and take no movement or action.

Alric Attempts to Hide behind Caden, a useful racial trick his kind managed to cultivate to their advantage over the years. It will be a challenge as Caden is also moving, and essentially impossible against any of those shadows watching from the woody edge. But maybe any newcomer shadows won't notice. Who knows how many kobolds are out there besides these children? (Rolled 13+4 = 17 for Hide. Until they change perspective and view you head-on from a different angle, you are above average (15) difficulty to spot.)
SPOILER (Hover over section below to view.)

Rolz is currently finicky. Likes the iPad, hates the Safari, Firefox, and Opera browser. Might be programmed for the latest versions, or some Java hiccup
[/COLOR]

??? Lady She continues on...
Maria
Maria (a distant voice harmonizes with it)
They call the wind Maria

(That other voice is coming from the silhouettes in the distant woody rough!)

Caden casually moves closer towards the woody rough, covering up his actions as if more focused on listening, and tries to get a closer look on the two shadow figures. Still over a round away from dashing to their spot. Looking surreptitiously at the silhouettes, and hearing the vocal harmony, it's obvious to even your passive Perception that it is flower-ear singing while cradling her younger brother's head.

Your Investigation however didn't bear any new information. The situation just might be what it appears? (Investigation roll of 5+1 = 6)

(Let me know what all of you plan to do for Round 5. I am slowing this down because investigations work best with time sequencing, and PbP is very different from face to face (F2F?). That and it sets things up well for me just in case you all decide to go ape shit aggro on something. Players are full of surprises. :) )

Alric will continue remaining as undetected as possible with the intent being to avoid frightening or startling the shadowy folk. If possible he will study them as well following Caden's lead.

Mechanically continue hiding and hopefully an investigation roll if hiding does not require an action.

(Caden's lead seems to be more observation than direct action. I'll assume the same for you as well, Alric? Then I will speed things up until a change in situation occurs.)

??? Lady - she turns around and starts to walk around the monument. A male tenor resumes the song.
Now before I knew Mariahs name
And heard her wail and whining
I had a girl and she had me
And the sun was always shining
(the sounds of a wagon and hoofbeats in the distance)

O, but then one day I left my girl
I left her far behind me
And now I'm lost, I'm oh so lost
Not even God can find me
(hoofbeats stop, and the sound of soft, high whistling wind starts)

Mariah, O, Mariah, They call the wind Mariah
(??? Lady comes back, smiling wistfully yet still not singing, with a bouquet of local wild flowers. She stands between your group and the monument again gazing East through you all.)

I hear they got a name for rain
And wind and fire only
But when you're lost and all alone
(??? Lady - she closes her eyes, leans over and sniffs the bouquet. You hear a commotion from the hedge...
Flower-Ear - is scrambling around grabbing at flowers growing around tombstones while shielding her eyes.)

There ain't no words but lonely

And I'm a lost and lonely man
Without a star to guide me
(??? from Woody Rough - you hear bark-hiss cries come from here. They stop with a 'yip' and turn into a whimpering.
??? Lady - deposits her bouquet atop the monument, turns to go around the monument, looks back one last time and moves out of sight.

(The sound of the whistling wind picks up, like building up to a crescendo.)
Mariah, blow your love to me
I need my girl beside me

(Flower-Ear - runs towards Caden out of breath, thrusting a fistful of picked flowers at him and pointing to where the other bouquet rests. At her angle she spots Alric, gasps and pulls back a little from surprise. She's still holding out the flowers and pointing, though it seems to take all her bravery.)
Hey, Mariah, O, Mariah
I'm lonely can't you see...
