The Thaecian Enchanter looks like fun at parties.

I'm thinking he's was a wealthy and connected hanger-on to the Thaecian court who got  bored by the "safe" decadence of the noble's party scene. After a night of too much wine, he let his inner thoughts fly free and upon sobering, decided swift departure was the right move, and many months later, after a "disastrous caravan disaster", he's wandered into Akmir.

I'll work out Chargen over this weekend.

THAECIAN ENCHANTER
SIZE: 6'-6'6",100-160 Ibs.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Silvery skin, deep blue hair,
distinctive features, slender physique.
ATTRIBUTES: INT +3, CHA +3, PER +3
HIT POINTS: 1 0
SPECIAL ABILITIES: None
SKILLS: Secondary magic, magical operations, concoct potions,
artificer, brewerlvintner (Thaecian nectar), enchant items, inscribe
spells.
EQUIPMENT/POSSESSIONS: Diaphanous gossamer robes,
gossamer purse and shoulder pouch, silver bound spell book, 1-4
amber crystal vials (potions) and spheres (Thaecian orbs), flask of
Thaecian nectar.
WEALTH: d20 x 100 gold lumens in mixed coins and/or gemstones.
COMMENTS: Thaecians are devout pleasure-seekers who shun
hard work in favor of more pleasant pastimes. They are enamored
of magic, and are partial to Thaecian nectar, a drink noted for its
exotic flavor and exhilarating properties.

Greetings!

Yeee Haaawwww!!! Thaecian Enchanters sound fucking awesome!:D

My Rainbow Thrall Warrior needs a hot Kang girlfriend! Imagine having a relationship with one of them? Talk about being hard-bodied and smoking hot--so wonderful and sweet when things are good--but with a deep, crazy violent temper that can send her into a zero to sixty TREX mode in seconds, while revealing the temperament of a rattlesnake.

Hmmm...my apologies. I'm stuck in weird memories of one of my ex Latina girlfriends!:D

Part of me wants to give your party a salt flats catamaran racer, with red iron wheels, so as to travel The Barrens. ;) But can I trust you players to do dramatic & irresponsible things with it as PCs?

Also, before I go too nuts gifting you crazy things, I need a survey of desired expectations. We'll grade some aspects 1 thru 10, ten being highest and or most frequent. Next I'll compile and average them, then weigh in my GM desires. Finally we will talk about 'em so we'll be closer to the same page of expectations. :)

Survey of What I Want as a Player

Moral Contrast, Things are: 1 (muddy grey) to 10 (stark black & white)

Humor, Things are: 1 (mirthless) to 10 (irreverent)

Brightness, Things are: 1 (hopeless) to 10 (care bears)

Violence, Things are: 1 (UN potluck) to 10 (41st Cen., only war)

Grounded, Things are: 1 (insurance actuarials) to 10 (gonzo frothy bubbles)

Other Aspirations, finish the sentence: As a player I look forward to my PC ____-ing ________________!

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it's more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Survey of What I Want as a Player

Moral Contrast -- No preference
Humor -- 6+
Brightness -- Any of the above
Violence -- 6+
Grounded -- 7+ (but happy with 4+)
Other Aspirations: As a player I look forward to my PC having a really cool pet or mastery of some kind of awesome but not necessarily plot-significant tradecraft

Thanks for humoring me, everyone. :) I do this so we can "same page" ourselves and do that social give and take (or politely bow out early).

As for me I am:

Contrast 6 = more interested in a defined line -- not exploring deeper sub-text, neuroses, subverted expectations, etc.

Humor 5 = albeit, this will be hard for me, but few things help comedy than a great straight man to bounce jokes off. I wanna play the setup, let you drop the punchline. I will try to be the Roger Moore James Bond to your antics.

Bright 7 = Blue skies in games! Less crap in the sack! There's hope for sexy fun time, more, more, more! (how do you like it? how do you like it?)

Violence 8 = This is unusually high for me, but I want that late 1970s - early 1980s fantasy movie vibe, which means welcoming that raging pubescent drive we remember.

Grounded 9 = I so want frothy gonzo bubbles because dancefloor fashion is anything but practical, and moreso from that music genre and time period. It also allows me to more "Rule of Cool" a setting I am less familiar with. :o

As a GM I look forward to my PCs giving me Conan & Taarna (Heavy Metal) realness in a disco fevered dream.
-------------

Doing a straight average, counting myself at same value as players, here are the averages:

Contrast = 4.75 =~ 5
Humor = 5.2 =~ 5
Brightness = 7
Violence = 8.2 =~ 8
Grounded = 7.6 =~ 8

OK, we got ourselves a rough snapshot! :) Anything people wanna talk about, appeal, or renegotiate?

Design by committee always sucks, but this is an overview average. The game will naturally fluctuate depending on scenario context. Further I value feedback so that I can get a sense of when to lean into another player's fun -- helps me change up the ride and keep things spicy! :D

Other than that, on to chargens (and finishing touches for those ahead of the class! :p) and the group's reason for being!

I assume mise-en-scene (middle of the scene), that you know each other and are reasonably not murderous to one another. That said, I totally dig a "Lawrence of Arabia" entrance scene, a salt flat racer taking time to come into shot of a waiting PC in billowing robes in the foreground... :D

Yes Doc Sammy, 2e. :)

And look, I found part of Talislanta's genesis. An italo song referencing a distant planet of light with 7 moons and 2 suns. :D And Nintendo's robot makes a disco debut!

Responding to your invite.  Sounds interesting.  I think a Zandir Charlatan would make a fine addition to the party.  Emphasis on "party".  Because that's what he likes to do.  Party.  A lot.

I figure in the interest of time, I'll just start with the description in the handbook and build from there.

Name:  Tadius
Profession: Zandir Charlatan
Homeland: The city of Zir in Zandir
Background:  Tadius was the son of a fairly wealthy elixer merchant but disdained the idea of becoming a merchant himself.  His older brothers could take over the family business.  Tadius spent his youth gambling and pursuing a hedonistic lifestyle for the most part, taking time to occasionally dabble in a bit of the arcane.  Tadius also became a frequently seen figure at parties, fetes, and other soirees with a different ladyfriend at each attended event.
When not engaged in social romps, Tadius' father forced him to endure the rigors of education, particularly about subjects pertaining to the family business.  Thus did Tadius learn the arts of brewing elixers of many sorts and gained the knowledge of the ingredients necessary for creating  successful and effective concoctions.
Tadius ran afoul of a young noble of Zir and found himself on the run.  Indulging in licentious behaviour with the noble's fiance wasn't the most intelligent decision Tadius ever made, but he was drunk, she was willing, and it was fun.  So there.  Anyway, after escaping the young noble and his entourage of sycophants, Tadius found himself stowed away on board a vessel departing the harbor out of Zir and on the way to adventure.  Or whatever.

Other Aspirations, finish the sentence: As a player I look forward to my PC partying , womanizing, conning, embezzling, etc, and surviving the consequences of it all.
