This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Thanks for humoring me, everyone. :) I do this so we can "same page" ourselves and do that social give and take (or politely bow out early).

As for me I am:

Contrast 6 = more interested in a defined line -- not exploring deeper sub-text, neuroses, subverted expectations, etc.

Humor 5 = albeit, this will be hard for me, but few things help comedy than a great straight man to bounce jokes off. I wanna play the setup, let you drop the punchline. I will try to be the Roger Moore James Bond to your antics.

Bright 7 = Blue skies in games! Less crap in the sack! There's hope for sexy fun time, more, more, more! (how do you like it? how do you like it?)

Violence 8 = This is unusually high for me, but I want that late 1970s - early 1980s fantasy movie vibe, which means welcoming that raging pubescent drive we remember.

Grounded 9 = I so want frothy gonzo bubbles because dancefloor fashion is anything but practical, and moreso from that music genre and time period. It also allows me to more "Rule of Cool" a setting I am less familiar with. :o

As a GM I look forward to my PCs giving me Conan & Taarna (Heavy Metal) realness in a disco fevered dream.
-------------

Doing a straight average, counting myself at same value as players, here are the averages:

Contrast = 4.75 =~ 5
Humor = 5.2 =~ 5
Brightness = 7
Violence = 8.2 =~ 8
Grounded = 7.6 =~ 8

OK, we got ourselves a rough snapshot! :) Anything people wanna talk about, appeal, or renegotiate?

Design by committee always sucks, but this is an overview average. The game will naturally fluctuate depending on scenario context. Further I value feedback so that I can get a sense of when to lean into another player's fun -- helps me change up the ride and keep things spicy! :D

Other than that, on to chargens (and finishing touches for those ahead of the class! :p) and the group's reason for being!

I assume mise-en-scene (middle of the scene), that you know each other and are reasonably not murderous to one another. That said, I totally dig a "Lawrence of Arabia" entrance scene, a salt flat racer taking time to come into shot of a waiting PC in billowing robes in the foreground... :D

Greetings!

A Disco Fevered Dream! I love it!:D

OK guys, keep working on your character generation! :cool: Feel free to use a template, too (hint hint, doc sammy: Danuvian Battle Woman).

Seems we need a PC write-up for: doc sammy & insubordinate polyhedral.

And keep it simple, no deep system stress or weighed choices, this is frothy fun as a start. Also don't feel obliged to make a deep background -- we probably won't even touch a tenth of it during play! :( Play by Posts can be very slow and survive on enthusiastic momentum! :D

Keep the spirits up and I will start the IC (In-Character) & OOC (Out-of-Character) Topics by the end of this weekend!

Meanwhile... another video of Topo & Roby "Under the Ice"!
https://youtube.com/watch?v=8LTSbq7Rl6c

Yes, that song's the disco fever dream. That haloed lighting as if your vision is blurring from recreational pharmaceuticals & onrushing hormones! :D Its magic works like the night before from a one-night-stand: hazy, luminous, euphoric, and utterly embarrassing in the harsh light of day!

Greetings!

Are there any kind of chocolates available in the region we are starting in? Also, what kinds of fruit are available?

Oh, yes. and what is the profile for Mangonel Lizards? Can Mangonel Lizards speak Talislan?

Sorry friends, I was planing to get my dude together this weekend, but I'm getting preempted by some work emergencies. Feel free to move on without me, or I'll hop back in as soon as I am able if you'll take a late comer. I'm hoping mid-next-week. (I don't know 2e so I wanted to put a bit of reading in first.)

:cool: Just like anyone familiar with the scene, no one invites each other to a show because we know to expect you there! :D No worries insubordinate polyhedral, they shall find you in a discotheque yonder, who knows whether in peril or not!?

SHARK, :) you know I honestly have yet to give it much thought. The fastidious part of me wants to comb through the 2e core sets and find the canonical answer; a cheeky part of me wants to say "No, but they have chermoya, kumquats, & rambutan. Plus weaponized durian. :p"; and the roll-with-the-punches improv GM part of me shrugs and says fuck it, on with the show & let's see if you can find out! :D It's a fluid, ungrounded, brain foggy quality that keeps one coming back for more!

(edit: As for the beasts of burden mangonel lizards, a quick word search through my three 2e books don't elaborate on them beyond mechanics as a domesticated steed. So I'll say they cannot vocalize, but understand a Draknarian (continent of Draknar) dialect of sapient gruntish Talislan with a declanating snort over typically umlauted vowels. ;) Better?)

*LAUGHING* Awesome, Opaopajr! "Chermoya, Kumquats, and Rambutan!" And weaponized Durian!:D Sounds good. I wanted to know what kind of sweet things to give the chiquitas in the club!

I didn't find anything on Mangonel Lizards either. They look ferocious and pretty badass though. Ghandus likes to talk to his bright, lime-green Mangonel Lizard!:D

From the Naturalist's Guide.  I'd guess mangonels are not intelligent enough to understand language per se, though that doesn't rule out learning simple commands by way of association.

Thanks for the tip, Griphammer! And good to hear you like my cheeky sense of humor, SHARK! (Actually, the Aberrant Forest means all bets are on for fruit nom-noms, but who knows how fucked up is the cacao tree? ;) I'm still gonna tone down my cheekiness for myself so you all can shine, though.) Sounds like we all have an easy-going group and hope this dynamic will carry us through the hard times. :)

Who wants to help the other players scribble up their character generation, like Doc Sammy's Danuvian Battle Woman?

I'd like a simplified PC Sheet that you yourself transfer onto the IC Topic, as close to 5"x7" index card as possible.

Then we'll get on with the show sometime next week, tears and confusion be damned! :D Bring adulting fancy pants & facial tissues!

Players, within 48 hours:
1. Put your Simplified PC Sheet on the IC topic.

2. Tell me if your PC is starting at:
a) the Salt Racer Catamaran
b) the Akbir Depot

By the end of this weekend:
3. Build party cohesion as Salt Catamaran restocks supplies before heading out.

4. I will drop rumors about opportunities out in The Barrens; choose one together and go forth.

:) By next Monday, August 3rd, the Salt Catamaran sails off from Akbir onto Adventure!

Greetings!

Ghandus visits any nearby taverns, and enjoys some cold drinks. Ghandus invites newly found companions to enjoy a cold drink and have a look around Akbir.
