Upon hearing Venosha's warning, Alvin grumbles. He had not anticipated trouble so soon. He drops his supplies to the ground, hurls his torch into the campfire, and quickly pulls out his crossbow, ready to fire on anything he perceives as trouble around or below.

Climbing the tree proves fairly easy, with plenty of branches and crags in the bark. As you approach the top-most branches, you feel them starting to sway as if in a stiff breeze. As you draw closer, it becomes clear the objects in the branches are rusted breastplates - still occupied with skeletal remains!

And on the ground, as anxious team-mates look on, Venosha notices several patches of dirt are shifting, revealing dirt-and rust encrusted metallic remains of armor and swords - more undead, rising to engage!

Tench, being highest into the tree, notices right away that the squirming skeletal undead in the upper branches, although animated, are "pinned" by the years of plant growth through the armor that protects them. They are slowly but steadily disentangling themselves, however (maybe 3 rounds to escape - would take you one turn to finish climbing up to engage them).

Meanwhile, down below, Alvin and Rowen have time to act while the three undead threatening them work to free themselves from their shallow graves (Rowen acts first, then Alvin).

Haven't heard from Engine/Caernas yet, but feel free to proceed with actions.

Venosha

After watching the skeletons try to unearth themselves from their shallow graves, Venosha turns around and retrieves the Alvin's torch from the fire. She then faces the undead and launches her attack.

Tench skitters higher up the tree, reaching the lowest of the entangled skeletons with ease. Bracing himself against the trunk, he deftly snaps the head off of the squirming undead, causing the disenchanted bones to rattle through the hollow breastplate and clatter to the ground.

Caernhas, finding footing on a medium-thickness branch, likewise braces against the tree trunk and prepares his bow. 20' below, he sees the mage Alvin kneeling behind a rock, weaving a glowing cloud that seems to meld with his skin. And in the glow of the firelight, Rowen hefts a sword in one hand and and a torch in the other, preparing to face down the rising circle of skeletons!

Venosha

Rowen observes the skeletons rising one by one, and decides to attack the closest one to her before she is surrounded.  Holding a torch in her left hand for attacking, and her long sword in the other hand for defense, she attempts to bash in its head with the torch, adding a little fire to its already gruesome sight.

Rowen making a quick decision, steps deftly to the right and strikes down one of the emerging skeletons, sending bones flying. Caernhas, finding the footing a bit less steady than he though, lets fly an arrow that - well, broadly misses his target. Tench skitters higher into the tree, confronting two mostly-unentangled skeletons that begin to swing from the branches, moving hand-over-hand towards the main trunk.

Alvin vividly withdraws from the emerging undead, hefting his spell component pouch in front of him like some improvised shield. When he is a fair distance away, he works his magic, and a hazy yellow aura of protective magic envelops him.

Caernhas, finding his footing, lets fly an arrow that pierces the rusty breastplate of a skeleton on the ground, staggering it for a moment, but it continues to approach Venosha, who swings but misses. Tench makes his way into contact with another of the tree-bound skeletons, and grabs its head for another twist, but at the last second, the skeleton turns slightly, biting his hand! (3 points of damage) - leaving Tench unable to complete his maneuver. Meanwhile, Alvin continues to crouch behind a rock, waiting for his time to come. . .

Venosha

After regaining her footing, Rowen grabs the torch with more composure, and aggressively attacks the next skeleton in line.

One Horse Town

Tench curses in pain and surprise as the skeleton sinks its teeth into his hand. Steadying himself in the tree he seeks the calm place in his mind - centering his thoughts and actions on the abominations in front of him.

Inner peace achieved, he is no longer perched in a tree facing superior odds. Now he is standing on a level, sandy beach and sparring with a brother from his order. He launches a barrage of attacks against him, striking home. The mental image wavers slightly when his clenched fist strikes metal and bone, rather than yielding flesh, but an imagined sea breeze brushing his cheek restores his inner calm.

Werekoala

Caernhas takes aim yet again - and frustration begins to mount as he misses his mark. Tench, calmness washing over him, pummels his tormentor, sending dried bone-chips flying; but does not dispatch his foe! And Venosha, finding a flaming torch more than a match for shambling undead, sends another skull flying, leaving only one foe on the ground to be dealt with. (Tench will now be faced with two opponents; Caernhas can climb up and attack next round.)

Engine

This wasn't working. The unsteady branch, the obscuring foliage, the danger of the moment, all conspired to foul his shots. Arrows were a poor means of injuring the undead, anyway; without blood to lose or organs to be pierced, what harm a clothyard shaft? Those above were too great a threat to ignore, now, in any case.

Quickly hanging his bow over his head, delicate bowstring at his chest where he can avoid hanging it up on every branch and twig, Caernhas double-checks his footing and begins to reach for higher purchase.
When you\'re a bankrupt ideology pursuing a bankrupt strategy, the only move you\'ve got is the dick one.

Securely girded in transparent layer of protective power, Alvin wastes no time in furthering his defenses... Drawing out his crossbow from its holster, the magician ducks into the shadows away from the campfire and further away from the skeletons.

Werekoala

Alvin, confidence building and glowing slightly from his Mage Armor, prepares his crossbow while moving quickly behind another rock. Rowen makes another mighty swing with her torch at the last ground-based skeleton, connecting with a solid *crunch*, but the skeleton continues to press the attack, and scores a hit, raking its claws across Rowen's sword arm (4 points of damage). Meanwhile, in the tree, Caernhas grabs one of the skeletons by the legs in preparation for a mighty swing, and Tench gracefully flips out of the tree and onto the ground.
