This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Any interest in a Traveller game?

Think that gives us 6 if I'm counting right...

Yay. I'm at work, and have class tonight, but will try to have a character posted by tomorrow evening.

How do you want to handle dice rolls? Ref roll? Online? Honor system?

Generally I trust people, but look where that's gotten me in life.

Still, I don't mind letting you guys roll offline unless you want to use Invisible Castle or something.

I'll probably just go ahead and use invisible castle anyway. it's good for when I'm at work or class and don't have dice, and I'm used to it.

Whichever is fine with me. Rolling offline is cool with me.

Werekoala

Ok, so whatever floats everyone's boat - offline, IC, whatever - just post the number where we can see it. ;)

Cap'n Buzz is dedicating himself to improving his Pilot and Admin skills: Skill improvement (2d6=9).

He's also going to create four corporations - Sirius Moonlight Trader, Moonlight Merchanters, Shishku Factors, and Spinward Ventures - on Lunion (and by the way, thanks for picking Lunion, 'cause it's a perfect place to incorporate - industrial, high tech, moderate law level), at a cost of 1000 ImpCr each (per JTAS 13 - let me know if you want to do this differently): Incorporation (2d6+2=8, 2d6+2=12, 2d6+2=7, 2d6+2=9).

Sirius Moonlight Trader LIC is for handling ship revenues; Cap'n Buzz is the sole stockholder. Moonlight Merchanters LIC is a speculation corporation; all of the crew will have a chance to buy shares in this, to raise capital for speculating and earn dividends. Shishku Factors LIC and Spinward Ventures LIC are placeholder corporations, for now; Buzz will assign a few of his shares in Moonlight Merchanters to each to provide a record of revenues.

Okay so far?

Wow, we can tell what YOU like about Traveller. :) Yes that looks fine, I'll expect you to do the bookeeping however (bad at math, remember?). The 1kCR per incorporation sounds fine, standard filing fees and such. If you want to get REALLY detailed you'll have to re-up them annually, and pay a small fee on any world where you want to incorporate as you go; otherwise, should be good for most purposes. I would expect you'll have plenty of money by next year anyway (assuming the game runs that long in-game time).

More detailed information on Lunion, part of an old Landgrab Project - still, it's very well done and a good read, especially for "newbies" to get a feel for some of the variety Traveller offers. We'll used this as the jump-off point.

Another good resource - gives you a good feeling of the scale of the setting. Each hex is one parsec:

Another excellent resource - gives a lot of detailed information about individual systems and is somewhat easier to read (I'll be using this as a primary resource most likely):

Holy shit, Black Vulmea is hardcore. :jaw-dropping:

I wish I had players like this when I was running Traveller!

No problem. Got a spreadsheet and ever'thin'.

If we go public I can see incorporating on other worlds - Glisten comes to mind - but for now Lunion is ideal.

That's the plan.

We're gonna make some (imaginary) money, my friends.

I'm definitely not one to wait around on the adventure.

Spike

If your invite is still open, I'll try my hand with the random generator linked.

Insofar as I have an opinion I'm personally fond of the corsair, but what do I know? I'm an FNG who mostly just knows MongTrav... for all I know that makes me the idiot with a binky.

Actually, I'm fond of bigger ships than that.... but I doubt I could convince anyone to let me post a million ton super-city, much less actually use it. Hell, I don't think I could convince ME to do that...

And I'm real good at sweet-talk.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

One more thing - I know there is a TON of information available for the "canon" Imperium and such, but I am NOT going to rely on that for this game. The big stuff will all be the same, but if someone wrote up something on Gorram in JTAS 22 for example, I'm not going to bother chasing it all down and using it as-written; I'm going to make up my own stuff since it's cooler anyway. So, if something I post conflicts with what you "know" about Traveller - deal. :)
