This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[4E] OOC for Beneath the Invisible Tower
« on: March 04, 2009, 05:28:22 PM »
This is the OOC utility thread for Beneath the Invisible Tower, a 4E play by post thingy.

We are in recruiting! Please post if you would like to play.

So in this thread, you can find out how to make a character, post a copy of your character, see maps and other stuff, and so on.

Ok, to get in, just say so: I'll take the first 6 players, and start once we get 4.

For convenience we will be using the character builder.

The character builder is located here:
http://www.wizards.com/download.asp?filename=700_DDI_CB.exe

Yes, you can download and install that even if you don't have DDI. It works up to level 3. Make any 1st level character you like, that the builder will allow you to make. (so if there's preview stuff from PHB2, Dragon, or whatever in there, fel free to use it).

1. All races, all classes, all official sources (including DDI) are ok.

2. Use an array to generate your starting ability scores.

3. 100gp to start. You can spend that on anyuthing you can afford, including potions or rituals.

4. BACKGROUNDS: In DDI, do not choose a Forgotten Realms background, but DO choose a Scales of War background.

Once you have something generated, post the summary page. It will look like so:

Quote from: DDI Character Builder Summary Page

Glyph, level 1
Tiefling, Invoker
Build: Wrathful Invoker
Divine Covenant: Covenant of Wrath
Background: Crusading Zealot

FINAL ABILITY SCORES
Str 13, Con 14, Dex 10, Int 16, Wis 16, Cha 10.

Starting Ability Scores
Str 13, Con 14, Dex 10, Int 14, Wis 16, Cha 8.

AC: 15 Fort: 14 Reflex: 14 Will: 15
HP: 24 Surges: 8 Surge Value: 6

TRAINED SKILLS
Religion, History, Intimidate, Insight.

FEATS
1: Ritual Caster
1: Scion of the Gods

POWERS
1, At-Will: Grasping Shards
1, At-Will: Vanguard's Lightning
1, Encounter: Astral Terror
1, Daily: Summon Angel of Fire

ITEMS
Leather Armor, Sickle, Adventurer's Kit, Quarterstaff

RITUALS
Arcane Mark, Amanuensis

5. Important! Please manually add your racial powers (usually an encounter power) to this summary. so the tiefling above would add his Infernal Wrath power to the list.

6. For dice rolls we will be using Invisible Castle: http://invisiblecastle.com

Thats fine! If you can fake the above format like DeadUematsu did there, you don't have to use the builder. I was mainly looking for a simplified format.

--- Character Background ---
The dwarven clan Copperpot's hold is located in one of the mountain ranges surrounding the Hekat Valley. Clan Copperpot relies heavily on the market and fairs of the village of Perreluna. The dwarves of Copperpot Hold enjoy and depend on the goods and services traded in the village of Perreluna. Consequently, the current situation in Perreluna has become a serious concern for the elders of Clan Copperpot, and how to deal with it.  Fargrim is the second nephew to the Copperpot Thane, and was present at the discussions regarding the necrotic blight that plagues the village of Perreluna and environs. Being fairly young, and looking to make a name for himself since the possibility of succession is slim, Fargrim volunteered to go to Perreluna to assess and neutralize the source of the necrotic blight.

Even though I've already created a character, I'm not particularly tied to any specific character class/race combination.  I just love dwarves and combat-orientated characters, and I was thinking of exploring some of the gladiator feats from that Dragon article.  However, I would be willing to create any class as needed by the group.  What I am trying to say is that if anyone else really, really wanted to play a dwarf fighter, then I would have no problem in creating another character and letting someone else create a dwarf fighter.

Seriously, just ask me if you really had that concept in mind, and I'll gladly create another character. :)

:D  Hehehe...and, as per my thread, I've no problem with playing in a group that has more than one dwarf warrior, even if we're mechanically identical. ;)

Hmm. If you have access to another builder or you think you can put together one using the PHB thats fine. If you want, I can build you one. Just need a race, class and name.
