This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

You get to have ONE RPG made...

Quote from: ArrozConLeche;984003Ghost In The Shell with CP2020 seems the most playable out of all the IPs I'd love to see in RPG form. I thought Gattaca or Blade Runner at first, but I'm not sure that we'd do in Gattaca (play the authorities?), and hunting replicants would probably get old fast.  Sure, sure, you could try to do other things in those worlds, but they might no longer feel like the IP after that.

What would you do in Ghost in the Shell: The RPG? I've never read it and the movie commercials looked stupid to me. I assume it was better in the comics? What's the premise? The commercials made it look like "Lucy 2: This Time She's Brunette."

I was thinking more of the SAC series, but I like the movies too. They're basically a special government group and they take on various threats over the course of the movies and series. They are basically procedurals, and I think that can translate well to an RPG.

Voros

Quote from: Technomancer;983902I'm very tempted to say "High Rise" by J.G. Ballard.  Tough it's not my favorite system, I think some iteration of FATE would be best.

Crystal World would also be awesome. I would use PbtA.

Shawn Merrow

A Stargate RPG with support for the 3 TV series and movies. I'm not sure about the rule system.

Apparition

IIRC, wasn't there already a Stargate SG-1 RPG?

Yes, yes there was.  It apparently was based on Spycraft.

It was actually quite tidy.

Barghest

A game about 80's pop-culture Ninjas that takes its inspiration from 80's video games, Golan-Globus movies, and the filmographies of Sho Kosugi and Godfrey Ho.

I think it's so weird that there's not something like that already.

So I got tired of waiting, and now I'm writing my own. It's just an expansion document for Adventure!--Tales of the Aeon Society in a Notepad file, but it's mine, damnit.
"But I thought we were the good guys!"
"No, we\'re not the good guys. We\'re the pigs from Animal Farm."

Isn't that Feng Shui?

You, sir, have a highly refined taste in film. Ninja Terminator is the absolute  high point of avant garde cinema. Jaguar Wong is one of the most memorable and badass heroes ever in film.

Unfortunately it doesn't cover a huge amount of the material as it only covers the first 6 seasons of SG-1.  I'm not sure what you could do with SG:U apart from I guess some of the conflict with the Lucian Alliance but there was a lot of unrealized potential in SG:A that is ripe for adventures.

If I had to choose I'd want an RPG based on the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson.  Likely need a few more books published before it is viable however.

Lunamancer

Love the man or hate him. For posterity sake, the game that needs to be made is Gygaxion!

D&D needs no comment. Dangerous Journeys is a veritable encyclopedia of fantasy gaming. Lejendary Adventure is a fresh take. I think "orthogonal" would be a fair characterization relative to all his previous work. And then there's the Gygaxian Fantasy series which gives some insight into the methods to his madness.
That's my two cents anyway. Carry on, crawler.

Jaguar Wong... pure glory. And hells to the yeah - Sho Kosugi for life. I might toss in extreme Brit-fu Cheese like 'Kill or Be Killed' James Ryan!

I was hoping it would be, but sadly, no. Sho Kosugi  and Lee Van Cleef fighting time-travelling jetpack gorillas with a terribly clunky system isn't what I want.

I've also been told that Ninjas and Superspies for Rifts would give me what I wanted, so I got the PDF, and...it's not going to do the job, either.

Street Fighter: The Roleplaying Game comes the closest, amusingly enough, but it still doesn't have enough Ninja. (Although "Spanish Ninjitsu" is an idea so gloriously dumb I might just have to steal it. Because Godfrey Ho would have made a movie about bullfighting Spanish Matador Ninjas armed with tekko-kagi claws if he had thought of it.)

I'm currently doing "research", which means watching lots of Ninja movies. (I'm halfway through Duel to the Death right now.) I didn't know about that one, so thanks for the lead!

Panjumanju

I want an RPG for Netflix's GLOW.
