This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Endless Flight;534212I don't know, but the Amazon prices for 3.5 books are outrageous. Sellers charging $480 for a "new" core rulebook slipcase set? If I knew anyone might pay for them at that price I should have bought a few for $60 back then and tucked them away for investment purposes.
Those people are grossly overestimating the value of their used books, or hoping for that one idiot in ten thousand who will pay big bucks for the copy where the Cheetos stains look vaguely like the Virgin Mary. They aren't going to sell anything.

For example, based on completed listings, that 3.5 slip case collection goes between $60 and $100 on eBay. A collection of the three core books (sans the slip case) is around $75. There are occasional outliers, but that seems to be the common going price.
Now with a Zine!

RC with errata would be nice but a special 'all in one' edition of the BECMI books (or at least the BECM books because the gold set immortals was a bit on the crunchy and nonsensical side. Still, it's been decades since I read it so I might be wrong...) would be worth a punt for a few copies. One to put on the shelf, another to put on a different shelf in case the first fell down. Two for the loft (one left out to attract the moths and another hidden from their greedy nibbling mandibles), one to leave in bubble wrap, seal in a safe and bury in the garden for safe keeping. Perhaps another to lock in a bank vault and sell in 10 years time on ebay for $10,0000,000000,00,000000 eurodollars on a buy it now.

I'm sure I've forgotten something...

Oh yeah, one to play. But I'd probably hoard that as well.

How many would actually play with these reprints rather than simply hoard and gaze lovingly at them?

Well, if I got my B/X reprints then I woould get a stack of them to play with so I could keep my originals on the shelf to gaze upon lovingly.

Reprints would be great (for various versions), but it'd be so much easier and cheaper if they'd start by opening up PDF sales again (and pricing them reasonably).

Pretty much looking like the 3.5 reprints were a hoax. But the Dungeon board game is for real; it's on Wizards' site now.

If it was a hoax, I can't imagine who is laughing at it...except maybe the folks at Paizo ;)

That sounds weird, since the Dungeon! boardgame was the first thing that was confirmed as a hoax.

Ha! I know a FLGS that carries every boadgame imaginable I will have to drop by and see if it's on the level of Talisman. Love Talisman even though I never win.

Doom

Don't buy it unless you've money to burn. Dungeon! is not bad for nostalgia, but I don't think I ever played it once I bought Talisman.
