This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Just had a scenario or campaign idea here.
.... indirectly inspired by that stupid thread thats elsewhere on here...

The 4 or 5 players would be playing former Presidents of the United States of America.
An internal or external threat to the country has brought them together to defeat it - but only they can do this task because of things they know or learned because of their time in the Oval office.

Now this could be either 'fictional presidents -OR- it could be playted with slightly altered versions of actual Presidents from the past 20 to 30 years.

One version of this could be defating invading aliens that are taking over things 'puppetmaster'-style.

As for tone of the kini campaign, I see it as action mixed with comedy in the style of either "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai across the 8th Dimension" or the "National Treasure" movies.

In the hands of a good GM and in the right group I could see this being a lot of fun. Heck you could even take it a step further and have allow them to play deceased US presidents (resurrected by scientists in a top secret program).

Or Clones of past Presidents - with historical records and memories approximated by a computer 'upload'/download. (as was suggested in lots of a books and an episode of "FRINGE")

This could especially work if there was an accident with the cloning mecanism and one or two wound up as female versions of themselves.  If you had a few women gamers at the table that might be interesting.

There was a series of Robert Smigel shorts on SNL back in the day called "X-Presidents" that was like this. The lineup was Bush I, Reagan, Ford, and Carter, I believe. I remember them being pretty funny and a good hook for a goofy supers game.

I'm thinking about an RPG about the POTUS since when I read Executive Orders by Tom Clancy. The problem is that you need Tom Clancy to GM it and come out with plausible scenarios/outcomes (the book had everything, from a bio-attack on the US soil, to a war, to internal political intrigue, and showed how the various agencies/cabinet members operated).

The problem is that most designers will try to go with a "dramatic" game The West Wing style. I like a lot TWW, but the real game was in Clancy's book.
For every idiot who denounces Ayn Rand as "intellectualism" there is an excellent DM who creates a "Bioshock" adventure.

The Butcher

Just go full-on gonzo/silly and give the ex-presidents (or possibly their clones) superpowers.

Tricky Dick can turn invisible.

Ronaldus Magnus has superstrength, invulnerability, flight and possibly eye lasers.

Bush I has telepathy.

Bill exudes irresistible pheromones.

Bush II has a healing factor and can metabolize monstruous ammounts of chemicals, recreative or otherwise.

Obama is an empath who can sense and control emotions.

I know Dick and Ron are dead, but fuck that. Either they've been revived by a Higher Power, or cloned.

And when the same happens to the Presidents of Legend -- Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln -- let your PCs shudder at the thought.

Well we already know that Lincoln was a secret Vampire Hunter

.....at least according to a trailer for an upcoming movie...

I call dibs on President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho.

Just make your fuckin\' guy and roll the dice, you pricks. Focus on what\'s interesting, not what gives you the biggest randomly generated virtual penis.  -- J Arcane

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Great idea, make it a mini 6 game and throw it up on kickstarter!

Cheers
Miniature Mashup with the Fungeon Master  (Not me, but great nonetheless)

Kickstarter?

Um, no never.

Its just an idea for a mini-campaign. People can use their own preferred RPG mechanics. I might use GURPS 4/e, someone else might use SAVAGE WORLDS or BRP.

Well imagine Lyndon Johnson winding up 'female' instead of male ...or stranger yet - William Jefferson Clinton.

REVIVED REAGAN: "Bill!, stop getting distracted!! We got invading Aliens to fight!!"

I know,  and the actual roleplaying possibilities of playing Bill Clinton as a female would be "interesting" beyond the obvious jokey or satirical options. Really fun idea thanks for sharing.
