This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Been moved to Meta. There.

I still can't believe even with all the moderation going on at En World AND the fact WotC has yet to do much about losing revenue, this is the most important thing that WotC has to do.

According to Morrus on the ENWorld thread:

http://www.enworld.org/forum/meta/275955-so-what-posts-here-does-wizards-coast-have-problem.html

"I'll not point anything out directly, but there was a large amount of WotC's IP (direct from the  books) posted.  It has been dealt with."

You'd think a quick email to Morrus, without getting the Legal Dept. involved would have settled it?  I'm sure he would have taken it down with a quick email saying "Hey man, there are parts of our books copied and pasted on your forum. Please take it down."

Yeah looks like someone was doing copypasta on whole sections of 4e books.

I mean, I'm no dummy; if somebody posted up bunches of stuff from 1e books on my forum I'd take it down when asked, too.

It's interesting that they're taking the IP fight to the forums themselves, though, don't you think? I don't exactly know "how" interesting, significant, meaningful that is, in whatever possible way, but it is. Interesting, that is.

You need a legal department letter for that?  It's like killing a fly with a sawed-off shotgun.  I'm sure a quick email would have solved it.

Man haven't you heard?  The days of "dudes who work at Wizards of the Coast" are gone.  Long gone.  Now they can't even ask you what kind of a day you're having without a fucking permission slip from Hasborg's lawyers.

Yeah I was looking forward to a weekend of heavy duty WOTC bashing.  Alas...

Still, whats it say about the mindset over there that we're reduced to letters from legal over bullshit like this?

WotC may have to send the "lawyer letter" to keep all the legal red tape sorted. Copyright law is insane, AFAIK.

Edit: Not that I'm dismissing "WotC being a bully" - Could be either.
The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.
