This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

That's right, Synnibar Next is being playtested right now! As I never had a chance to read the original, I guess this is where I get to say "I'll buy that for a dollar!"

Although realistically, I can't see any way that a project of this magnitude can be sold for less than $30. Still, I'm game. :)

Mods? Can we merge this?

Thank. You.:D

Surely Synnibarr is awesome enough to deserve at least 2 threads...! Maybe we can use this one for tracking Facebook updates.

Kind of amused by the "calories" thing. Weight gain was always the key to power in Synnibarr, except that in the older editions it helped you be immune to stuff like disintegration instead of powering super powers directly.

3!  (Although #2 is a branchoff, logging my attempt to whip up a Synnibarr sandbox.)

I just got a new version day before yesterday, it contains some interesting new adjustments and clarifications based on the first rounds of testing.  Trying to get some folks over this weekend for some arena fights (the playtest suggests pitting characters against each other to learn the combat system before throwing them into the sample adventure - any characters killed during the exercise are returned to life ;) ).

Ghost Whistler

I don't believe these infamous games really exist.

It's just an online bogeyman created by the elders to scare the womenfolk and the children.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

Spike

Believe. I've own two or three copies of Synnibar. I'm never quite sure what happens to them after I've bought them, mind you... Its possible that they simply get edited out of my memory/vision as a defense mechanism so that the insanity doesn't spread...

... but where else can I find a picture of an ambulatory badger holding a Midnight Sunstone Bazooka?

Heck: Where else can I find Midnight Sunstone Bazookas?

Just say that a few times, let the awesome awfulness of that soak into your pores.
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Are you sure you didn't just buy a copy of Exalted and feed it after midnight?

That may be the origins of Exalted, seeing as Synnibar predates it by a good decade.

Yes...

... I do believe I like this theory.  Exalted is what happens when you feed Synnibar after midnight!

I saw one in a comic book store once. It was HUGE book for the time, and flipping through it made laugh and laugh

I own a copy of Synnibarr's second edition and its one supplement.  You have not WTFed until you see the entry for Psielves and read that they deliberately modelled their guild on The Gestapo.  That's right: Nazi Gestapo Psi Elves.

Synnibar was AWESOME! Can't wait for the new edition!

It's things like this and Amazon Women as a character choice that virtually guarantee that I will be getting this book. :D

I knew a guy, 20 years ago, whose first TRPG was TWoS.  His first PC was an Amazon, and he was one of the guys who got their PC to Immortality.  A few years later, he knocked up his girlfriend and married the woman.  She bore him a daughter.

He named the little lass after his Synnibarr character: Jackie.  I hope she took after her dad, because he's a former athlete.

Ha, his girlfriend lets him name his daughter after his Synibarr character, that's love right there.
