This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I would settle for a paper back or pdf of the characters book.

Quote from: walkerpYep, GURPS lite is now more like GURPS starter kit. It gives you a good idea of how it all works, but it just isn't quite enough to run with.  I think they should make a GURPS Explorer's Edition, though one that would probably be a bit longer and deeper than the Savage Worlds one, just because of the more complex and detailed nature of the system.  But one of those for say $20 with all the basic chargen (perhaps with skills, ads & disads edited down) and combat rules would be a great way to recruit new people and for a GM to hand out to their players.

Gee, somehow this suggestion seems awfully familiar:

...either that or its just that great minds think alike.

For those who  for whatever reason might not be able to use that link , here is the text of that post to the SJG  ForumS:

QuotePosted by some guy who goes by "Qoltar" over there: I know you guys probably can't do this for awhile.....however...

Could you guys at SJG consider a condsensed version of the GURPS rules in a smaller paperbound book size?

Why am I asking or suggesting that ?

We just got in the SAVAGE WORLDS Explorer's edition of their RPG rules.
ITs nice, and the low price point of $9.99 is getting a really positive reaction from browsers.

Right now the two most affordable RPGs that we have in the store is that and the 16 odd copies of GURPS LIte 4/e that I printed up and have on our shelves.

When I mentioned both of those in conversation with a cusrtomer - I thought: "Hey, a $9.99 version of GURPS 4/e would be really easy to sell as well. "

The young couple browsing grabbed TWO copies of GURPS Lite - but the young lady did say if she had just a few more bucks on her, she would have bought the SAVAGE WORLDS book. They were both in their mid 20s.

To me, GURPS, HERO system, and SAVAGE WORLDS all have similiar selling points at time - in the ability to do just about any setting with them.

Something to think about...
