This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Wizards of the Coast employees are threatening their own company, because Hasbro didn't make any kind of statement in support of abortion.

These insufferable twats. Hasbro is a toy company. Of course they won't be outraged about RvW; why on Earth would they want their target demographic being murdered?  ;D ;D ;D

If Hasbro opts to dropkick these idiots out, I will be pleasantly surprised.

Quoted this one for hitting the nail on the head.   Some of those people must not have a fully functioning brain, or maybe enough of the people revolting think they are the target demographic for toys?

Well, considering most of the woke are in arrested adolescence, maybe they think the supply of children is sufficient?  :P

They openly said that the situation caused them mental health problems.

From the Twitter account "Wizards for Justice":

On Wednesday, June 29th all employees are encouraged to take a day to reflect, nurture mental health, and show solidarity that Hasbro will not.

I posted about this in the political forum but my post is still "waiting for approval". In the link I gave:

https://www.cbr.com/wotc-walk-out-hasbro-lackluster-scotus-roe-v-wade-ruling-response/

...There is this reference to a "a controversial email sent to (Sony) employees by (Sony President) Jim Ryan". So I checked and what I found was simply:

Ryan sent an email to PlayStation employees asking that they respect each other's "differences of opinions" on the matter.

Nothing else. This guy just asks for respect for each other in one of the most complex and divisive matters out there and he gets plastered. That there can be Sony employees with anti-abortion rights and no one wants a civil war isn't even contemplated. Need for mental health care indeed.
For every idiot who denounces Ayn Rand as "intellectualism" there is an excellent DM who creates a "Bioshock" adventure.

Well, according to those at WotC,

Quote
Any messaging that suggests or implies that there are other, valid, opinions and approaches to this further marginalization of already at risk groups, on their bodily autonomy is unnecessary, invalid, and damaging. (4/11)

I was sorely tempted to ask "So will official D&D AL events and Magic tournaments require trampling on a crucifix for participating, or will the opening hymn to Moloch suffice?" ;)

That dictum is made even more surreal by what directly follows it:

Such messaging only seeks to protect and validate those that seek to control, and is the wrong direction for any organisation with as diverse a customer base as ours.

Somehow "diverse" doesn't include "people with anti-abortion views". According to WotC, if you are anti-abortion you for sure don't play Magic or D&D because... reasons. The level of blind stupidity is astounding.

Talk about being fucking clueless.

Why would a company whose large percentage of customer base is children going to make any negative comments about the ruling.

As usual can’t get in the way of carefully constructed personal narratives can we.

Hasbro is not going to risk what is probably a large part of the fan base for some truly dumb SJWs.

Asking how well the fast food chains did when the all tried to carry an push a vegan version of burgers and then get back to me.

If the EN World thread on the topic is any indication, they really do think that not only is their view right (as anyone does), but that no one can have a different view without being actively malign or something similar.

I don't think it's as simple as that. Children are terrible as paying customers. They tend to have very little money. It's the parents who are the customer base. If a mother aborts the 3rd child because they only wanted 2 kids, that's money saved on food, clothes, and daycare that can be spent on toys for the first 2. The broke teenage mom is also not a customer because she has zero disposable income. Maybe her family are customers or maybe not. Maybe they do hand-me-downs. Even the simple fact of more children means more profit should be examined. I bet we all knew an only-child who was spoiled with toys and a poor family with four kids who barely had any. It's a grim calculus to be sure, and maybe you're ultimately correct, but it's not as simple as killing the customer base.
Hit me up if you're in the Toronto area and you wanna play Hyperborea 3E!

Companies exist to make money. They don't actually care about politics except insofar as it makes them money. They'll say whatever they think will make them the most money. Hasbro is staying silent because they don't care either way and saying anything is likely to lose profits.

Seriously, this policy doesn't affect them in any fashion. The middle class are the ones who buy the most toys and have the least children. The people most affected are not consumers. Hasbro has nothing to gain from publicly stating that they support abortion and plenty of profits to lose from middle class conservatives.

While I generally support progressive causes, I agree that the SJWs are doing more harm than good. What we need to do is balkanize the USA into different countries for different political brackets, such as Galt's Gulch, Wymyn's Land, Jesusland, and Wakanda, and fund the mass exodus of people to the new countries that best fit their political views. I wish there was a better solution, but humans have consistently shown that it's impossible for people of differing belief systems to co-exist without attempting to murder each other.

I wouldn't count on it but that would be glorious.

What I'm really curious about is their one-day walkout strike. Did it end up happening? Who participated?

If anyone has any info on this, and just how many people are thus represented by @wizardsjustice , please let me know, even if in private (your anonymity will be guaranteed).

I saw your post on the RPGPundit's forum, but it was when I was already uploading this video. Since the two threads would have been repetitive, I didn't approve it.
