I decided to do a quick old-school RPG ... in ONE DAY!

Liber 3d6

The name comes from the fact that it uses 3d6 in order, not just for character creation, but for everything. You have to do class, ability scores, and race, in that order. You have to equip your character in a specific order, and prices are 3d6 x some multiplier. Attacks and Ability Checks are 3d6 based.

Because I didn't do any proofing or layout, it's kind of messy, and probably could use some more work. But it has six classes, six races, and a handful of spells, and unique multiclassing rules.

Let me know what you think.

It's kind of a reference to another game I was writing called Liber Zero. This was to be an OD&D close retroclone, back when S&W Whitebox was the closest and still not close enough, but there have been a couple released since I began the project (Delving Deeper, Iron Falcon). None of those still quite do what I'm looking for, but I decided that field was already too crowded and have been reconsidering what I've done already and how best to use it.

On my blog, I described this game, Liber 3d6, as sort of a guilty conscience release to make up for not releasing Liber Zero. I didn't go into that here, because I figured fewer people would even be aware of Liber Zero.

I guess I should add that a couple Liber Zero ideas, as well as other things I'd been toying with, made it into Liber 3d6, even if it's not a true retroclone.  For  example, renaming  a couple ability scores, changing the class names. I don't use rolls to advance a level when I run OD&D, but I do have split-class rules that almost work like the ones described here. But you can only take each class once. Hero/Thief/Thief/Thief only exists in this game, not in my approach to OD&D.

It's just that "Liber (insert name here)" is something I most often hear in the occult scene.

Yeah, that too. Liber 777, and a couple other Golden Dawn or OTO books or essays, and I think there was at least one chaos magic book with a name like that?

But actually, the first thing I thought of when I named Liber Zero was the Liber Ivonis ( Book of Eibon.)

Yep. That was what made click the thread. Still neat material though so it's all good.

Ah, I see!

The chaos magic book you're thinking of is Liber Null.  And actually all of Crowley's books were "libers", with a numbering a classification by type.  Some of them only also had other titles.
