This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Blank paper. I hand-write what there is to describe the character. That way there is no irrelevant noise.

I use a fairly consistent pattern with some variation, that I've used for decades, so it works for me because it's familiar. Based on the pattern for hand-written TFT characters:

Boob the Orc,  M. Green Orc., 5'9" 180 lbs.  born 1187
ST 12  Axe 2d+2 cut
DX 11 (12 axe/knife/brawl) padded cloth armor (1)  heavy hard leather boots (2)
IQ  9
HT 11  large knife 1d cut / 1d-1 imp      punch (12) 1d-3  kick (10) 1d
Speed 5.75  Move 4  Dodge 4  Retreat 7   Parry (6 axe) (5 knife) (8 brawl)
Axe (12) Brawling (12) Knife (12) Combat Sense (11)
Swimming (12) Carousing (13) Hiking (14)
Cooking (10)  Plains Survival (11)
Broken Humanish
Greed

I generally type GURPS characters up in Word Perfect.  I also use Word Perfect to make Rolemaster character sheets.

Just make your fuckin\' guy and roll the dice, you pricks. Focus on what\'s interesting, not what gives you the biggest randomly generated virtual penis.  -- J Arcane

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

That is a unique layout.

I really like this one for S&W Continual Light. It's simple and tracks the number of adventures while still being pleasing to the eye.

I just changed my avatar, to reflect my new favorite character sheet; but I can't figure out who to give credit for it?  I can't remember where I found it?

Very clear and simple.

It's only been in the last version or two that Microsoft removed Word Perfect emulation from their settings.  The first time they tried to do it, circa 1990, they had so many complaints, they backed down.  When you consider how resistant Microsoft has traditionally been to customer feedback, that's a lot of complaints.

Character sheets are tricky.  I mean, obviously you can make a very plain workmanlike sheet that is just fine. But if you're choosing for it to have style and a look, you have to be really careful: get too fancy and it will end up losing utility. You need just the right balance between aesthetic quality and utility.
