This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Do any of you know if someone has posted 40k career conversions for Traveller? I am mainly interested in the Inquisition, but any conversions would be nice.

I haven't heard of any, but you might want to check really old issues of White Dwarf from the early eighties when GDW and GW had a much closer working relationship.

Arent 40k careers more like personality faults in other RPGs?

Space Marine = Soldier + Inquisition
Adeptus Mechanicus = Engineer + Inquisition
Space Merchant = Merchant + Inquisition
Inquisitor = Inquisition + Inquisition

That's an idea! I could actually get into Rogue Trader or Dark Heresy using Traveller. Or BRP for that matter.

Well, going at it from a Classic Traveller perspective, I'd make Inquisitors high ranking Agents, Marines are Marines but with +2 Strength and Endurance and -2 Dexterity from their implants.  I'd also require a ten in Strength, Dexterity, and Endurance to enter training to be a Space Marine.  Marines don't age normally, essentially getting free Anagnathics.  The Imperium runs its own Psionic Institutes and has a range of Esoteric disciplines beyond the range of a forum post.
