Given the miniature and online focus of D&D 4E, how might WotC develop non-D&D version of the 4E system or will they give up on products like d20 Modern?  Thoughts?

Gee, I hope so - That way I can get more recruits for GURPS modern-era adventures  games.

When was the last WotC D20 Modern supplement?  Were there ever any third party products which took advantage of linking up to it other than Ultramodern Firearms?

Green Ronin had a few and there seems to be a big pile of pdf.

I really hope that they produce a new version - if they do it like SWSE and 4e I'd be all over it - but I have my doubts that it's commercially viable.

No big deal.  That's why I have Savage Worlds, a plethora of Unisystem games, nWoD, Feng Shui, etc... (very etc...).

Oh yeah. Lots. And really, I find D20 modern books by wotc boring and wanting in other ways. It's really the third party D20 modern books like Blood & Fists, Darwin's World 2, Sidewinder Recoiled, and Second World Sourcebook that bring the awesome.
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

Didn't WotC already announce a non-D&D application of the 4e engine?

with the release of 4e wotc is planning d20esque style suport for 4e. my guess is that d20 modern will get a 4e incarnation along with its suplaments. i doubt we we will see star wars get a 4e reinvisioning even though saga is a great game and should have bin the way d20 star wars should have bin at the onset of its d20 life span. honestly though id rather see a update with a ogl and srd of tsrs alternity then a new incarnation of d20 modern. honestly any  d20 4th e compliant book will find a audeance just as d&d4the will sell just on the brands id alone. id personly rather have more historic based alt4e books from wotc then reinventing a failed past product line.

Dreamwalker Revised uses the d20 Modern rules and we've released several adventures using the rules, but not necessarily taking place in modern times (pirates, WWII, and 1980s Miami so far).  It's a solid game system, but I'd like to see a more streamlined version of the rules released.

This does bring up a point, though. 4e is certainly not made to be as genre-adaptable as D20 was. So how the hell are they planning to come out with a "Modern" or "Sci fi" version of the same rules?  I think its more likely that what you'll get is something with similar rules, but not really the same fundamental system, ie. not quite universally playable.

I'd imagine they'll change 'em. It'll be interesting to see which ones they change.
