This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

After all the namby pamby bantering about about how Scion is different than Exalted: Modern and all hat.

I just downloaded the demo, and it IS modern day Exalted (stunt dice and all)!

This, my friends is a good thing.

Holmes: Aha! Elementary, my dear Watson! The perpetrator was a messenger!

Watson: How so Holmes? How the deuce did you deduce that?

Holmes: Why obviously, the victim was hand de-livered.

That's debatable.

I had a very small interest in checking this game out, but it being anything like Exalted just killed that. :D

No. I'm happy.  Just not about Scion.

I think that means we both win.

I'm glad u like it.

It's leaving me a bit cold but I think that's because I don't care for yet another modern-occult setting.

I think Scion might work for me if I push it into the future, like a Solar System-wide Earth empire.  It'll give me a bigger sandbox and more toys to play with as a GM.

My rules and comments about good GMing:
  • Improvise as much as you can
  • A character sheet is a list of items that tell you what the story should be about
  • As a GM, say "maybe" and ask your players to justify a "yes"
  • Immersion isn\'t a dirty word.
  • Collectively, players are smarter than you and will think of things you never considered.

To be fair, so far Scion has seemed to be more about beating up ninjas and giants on the city streets than the occult as such. They don't strike me as a particularly subtle or secret bunch: this "Fatebinding" might force them to show a bit of restraint, but even that's probably not going to be as restrictive, say, Paradox in Mage.
Previously known by the name of "GrimGent".

Good point.  It's more like a mythic "Heroes" than WoD / Buffy / Witchcraft.
