SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Where the heck is D&D 5e?

Sacrosanct

Quote from: Benoist;711822Well I might be preaching the choir or whatnot but one thing I can say is that, based on Sacrosanct's D&D Next threads and the like, I don't see how the setting of the Duinnsmere around the Hobby Shop Dungeon wouldn't be usable with it, and that failing, I know for certain that it'd be trivial to use with AD&D 2nd edition. So at least coming from us (Ernie Gygax and I at GP Adventures), you'll have a setting to play with.

If you like stuff like the Matter of France, the Matter of Britain, Robin Hood and Ivanhoe, if you like Poul Anderson, if you like Michael Moorcock, with a dash of Clark Ashton Smith, Sterling E. Lanier, and the like, notes of humor Monty Python style, which you can tune up and down to play it more or less seriously, depending on your group's tastes, chances are you are going to like this.

Any previous setting in the D&D universe can be used pretty much as is in Next, with the exception of probably spelljammer.  That might require a bit of tweaking.  The only thing you really would need to do is ignore those races that don't appear in whatever setting you are using.
D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

Skywalker

Ghosts of Dragonspear Castle is now out on PDF. It contains 4 adventures, 5e's rules (except PC creation) and 6 pregens with rules for advancing them to level 10.

Its not the full 5e release, but it should get you playing right now if you want to: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/123270/Ghosts-of-Dragonspear-Castle-%28D%26D-Next%29
