This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Man, this thread is fun! :rotfl:

I don't think having catholic priestesses in a RPG has anything to do with political correctness.

Now, as an excuse to increase boob density per adventuring party and let the female players run catholic versions of their Xena Warrior Princess PC templates...maybe.

There's a reason why they call it the "bread of affliction".

Hey, there's an idea for a holy weapon:  the Eucharist Railgun.  Eucharist wafers are accelerated along an electrostatic rail to high velocity, whizzing forth like holy discs of affliction upon their targets.

It's obviously an adventuring altar boy.

Quote from: ticopelp;353666Seriously, this is beyond the pale. It's almost as if roleplaying games take place in some kind of make-believe universe where things don't work the way they do in the real world. That's bullshit!

I think it's a hilariously stupid cover for the reasons Pundit stated and many more beside, and wish that someone else had posted it, so we'd all be pointing and laughing instead of dogpiling on Pundit for having said it.

While I find the idea of a Catholic Priestess in the Vatican to be really stupid, I'd have more fun if we were bashing on Blue Rose, again.

It is a stupid cover. Doesn't mean that it's also representative of some insidious political correctness conspiracy. If Pundit hadn't posted it in that context I doubt it would have merited much comment. It lacks the verve of  Conjurer and Cameltoe or even the old d20 porn trace.

Yes, but do you do that metaphorically or literally?

The illo is faulty enough technique wise - the light is all wrong, first of all - that the existence of a female elf priest is the least of it's worries. I didn't even notice the second priest until I reread the OP. Thing is, I don't think the reason is PC-ness. I think it's - as others have stated - wish fulfillment. The crowning piece of evidence for this is the katana the woman priest is raising - awkwardly - behind her head. If you see a katana in any illo not about medieval Japan, you are in adolescent wish fulfillment territory.

Yes, my gues is this illustration (and probably the game) spawned from a long night of binging on cheetos and pizza while watching back to back DVDs of Underworld, Van Helsing and just the scene of the elf chick from LotR spliced in with some sort of seemy elf porn cosplay youtube special.

With katanas.

I doubt that - they are supposed to be working for the Vatican. Here's a bit on clerical collars.
