This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

....When was it?

....Was it a spur-of-the-moment purchase, or something you'd been considering for a while?

....And are you happy with it?

(As a spinoff of this here thread)

For me, it was my Castles & Crusades GM Screen at Gen Con.  And it was autographed by Gygax, so hell yes.

All Tomorrow's Zombies  - I've been waiting for it for some time.  Haven't used it yet, but I'm pleased with it.  It complements the rest of my UniSystem collection quite nicely.

50 Fathoms - I was humming and hawing about getting the PDF version, but I saw it on the shelf at The Sentry Box in Calgary and picked it up (along with ATZ above).  What a fantastic product.  I really wish more campaigns were released in a similar format; it's leagues better than Evernight as well.  I'll be getting some use out of it soon (very hopefully).

Almost went and bought the Eberron Player's Guide today.  I'm playing in a new campaign starting "real soon now!"(tm) and I thought that more background info might be nice.  But the GM has laid out an explcit "core rules only" guideline and the setting ha a few changes from canon (nothing major, but who knows where it will be going).  So I figure it might be of limited value to me and left it on the shelf.

My latest snag off of eBay was a copy of Run out the Guns.

Haven't received it yet, so I don't know if I'll be happy with it or not. I've been interested in pirates/swashbuckler/early modern games for a long time, so when I saw mention of this one on rpgnet, and came across some really enthusiastic grass-roots web pages devoted to the game, I added it to my watch list.

Oh, wait, the other day I was in Endgame and I grabbed a few used games...Prince Valiant for $1, how can pass that up, even though I already have a copy signed by Greg Stafford? Also, Puppetland (which I gave to a friend who I thought might like it) and Pantheon, each at $3.

My other recent "major" purchase was WFRP 1e, again off of eBay, for a song. I haven't read all the way through but I'm pretty pleased with it having never gotten into the game before.

Blackleaf

Moldvay edition D&D Expert Rulebook, and B5: Horror on the Hill.  I lost these years ago -- and now I've got them again!  B5 is still my favourite module.  It's gelatinous-tastic!

Serious Paul

I just bought an art pack for m Dundjinni program today. My next purchase will be either the DMG II or one of the Complete series books, on classes.

GURPS:MARTIAL ARTS at GenCon. Why ? You're kidding right? Its GURPS for 4th edition . Big Dopey me wants it.

GURPS:SUPERS POD - also at Gencon. Its Superheroes. ITS GURPS . See above comment/explanation.  (SJG really should sell paperbound books again)

BATTLEFIELD EVOLUTION miniatures. Specifically the USMC Force Recon squad , I plan to use these with my GURPS:TRAVELLER campaign as the mercenaries that the PCs keep hiring. If you remember certain threads I used to have on the Orange and Fluffy you'll know what mercenaries I mean.

PAIZO Big Map foldout Tavern.  Its BIG, Its a well-made map.....and in 25mm scale. I know I'll use it someday . Whether its GURPS:FANTASY/BANESTORM or one of the rare times I run D20 - I'll use the thing.

Four pewter d10s from the GameScience booth at GenCon.

Sooo weighty in my hands, like little player-killing dwarf-stars.

Well, I paid for a copy of the World Builder's Guidebook on eBay, which I'd been wanting for years, but unfortunately, the seller has failed to actually get me the damn book, and now ignores all communication.

Before that, it would be Gamma World 4th.

Some stuff at Gen Con.  I'm not sure which was the last, though I think it may have been a set of 7 Gamescience dice...

If dice don't count, I think it would be Savage Worlds Explorer's Edition, also at Gen Con.

I just got a copy of Faith Conquers to learn more about this Burning Empires thingamabob I picked up, too.  Damn fine read, but not really an RPG.
