While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). The Butcher

Sorry to disappoint, human too.

Though I am also a huge fan of dwarves and half-orcs.

I will choose a human almost every time because it is easier for me to relate to such characters. But I also like minotaurs and giffs when available.

Winged humanoids are also pretty cool. Not dragonborn though, something more identifiable as human. Angel types. Your wings are beautiful, Van ^_^

Where there Dragonborn available in 3e?  or is that a 4e thing only?  IDK personally.  My son wants to play a Dragonborn and I was considering making up the race for him to play in my OSRIC 1e campaign.

I don't know but I would be surprised if there weren't. EVERYTHING was in 3.x.

edit: it appears you want Races of the Dragon.

They are based off the Dragonlance Draconians so I am sure you could use that as a base to make them more PC quality.
Don\'t mess with cats we kill wizards in one blow.;)

Sacrosanct

D&D is not an "everyone gets a ribbon" game.  If you\'re stupid, your PC will die.  If you\'re an asshole, your PC will die (probably from the other PCs).  If you\'re unlucky, your PC may die.  Point?  PC\'s die.  Get over it and roll up a new one.

Silverlion

I tended to prefer Elves, I'm rather fond of the Rakasta from the Thunder Rift series, as well as being fond of the Anachu (obscure race from Dragon magazine of a fox like people.)

Xavier Onassiss

Over the years I've played humans more than anything else, so I guess I'd have to say that's my preference.

I found the 4E version of Teiflings interesting: they seem very human to me, in spite of their demonic heritage. (I'll admit it; I'm a sucker for characters with tragic back-stories.) So I've been playing Teiflings in 4E, for actual role-playing reasons, if anyone can believe that.

Skywalker

I like humans.

I am not a humans only person though. I like near human races but I am tired of Tolkien based races or anthromorphs.

Anima's Nephilim are a good example, being humans with the souls of supernatural beings.

I also like the racial type archetypes in Tenra Bansho Zero where souls are tied to suits of armour, humans are infested with supernatural creatures etc

I kind of like the idea of tieflings as portrayed in 4e (although the name is daft) but the art puts me off big time.

Quote from: Sacrosanct;578318My 1e halfling fighter wasn't exactly CharOp :)

But with 5e, it's looking like humans are going to be the big frontrunners for CharOP with all the ability bonuses they get.

I usually play humans, but I have had a lot of fun playing half-orcs as described in 1E. They are the one standard non-human type that can pass for human, meaning they get their special abilities and can mingle freely among humans.

Over the years I've played all the standard races, as well as non-standard ones (lizard men, half-ogres, hobgoblins -even a wraith). Usually it's a matter of a monster/NPC joining the group and when a PC is killed or otherwise unavailable, playing one of these recruits.
Jesus Fucking Christ, is this guy honestly that goddamned stupid? He can\'t understand the plot of a Star Wars film? We\'re not talking about "Rashomon" here, for fuck\'s sake. The plot is as linear as they come. If anything, the film tries too hard to fill in all the gaps. This guy must be a flaming retard.  --Mike Wong on Red Letter Moron\'s review of The Phantom Menace

I liked them, appearance-wise; at the risk of making a WoW/D&D comparison, they reminded me a lot of Draenei, who I also really like.
