This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What does everyone think of Nephilim Occult Roleplaying?

It really strikes me as a kickass Urban Fantasy game. Plus it is based on Western Occult stuff. Perhaps one of the better RPGs to come out of the 90s.

Playing: Nothing sadly
Running: Tales of Gor, FKR Star Wars, Vampire 4th edition

I had it back whenever it first game out in English (90s?). I found it surprisingly dull, perhaps also because I find Western Occult stuff dull.

Kult was far more interesting.

Of all the urban fantasy games out there I like this one the most. Ever since I got hold of the French first edition.

It has a core conflict that draws everyone right into the game.

I didn't like the rule system as much. BRP felt like a strange choice. A d6 pool system like Chimères (by the same publisher) would have been nice. It had a similar premise, you played a were creature trying to find out more about your true self while being misunderstood (and hunted).
Swords & Wizardry & Manga ... oh my.

I was surprised to discover I owned the pdf. Then I looked through it and remembered why I forgot it. Not a fan.

I have the Chaosium version and ran one scenario when it first came out.  I like it but it was not very well supported and as with other Urban Fantasy games such as Unknown armies I could not  get any of my players interested in a campaign.

I ran this (Chaosioum version) many years ago.
It was a lot of fun to run, but you need the right players for it to buy into the setting and mood.

I was obsessed with this game right up until the time I actually played it. I think BRP is the wrong system for the implied campaign; Amber would be a much better choice. But I think that for a lot of similar games, like any of the WoD games or anything that is mostly concerned with player-player interaction.
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.
